What the heck, Doctors?!

So grandma was recently diagnosed with Ovarian cancer and then they decided to do some "Exploratory surgery" on her to see how far the cancer spread and decide a course of treatment.

Fortunately for us, they remove the reproductive parts and the parts where the cancer spread. Except for some reason, the doctors seem to be working only part-time. I know, it's the holidays and all, but it was an absolute pain in the arse to reach the doctors because they apparently were never ever "open". Dad decided to constnatly call them and get things done - because apparently their secretaries were bumbling boobs.

The surgery's done...but then all of a sudden, Grandma's wound opens right back up and she starts bleeding from it. (!!!) I know stuff like this often happens, but they take her back there, they say "oh this is perfectly normal" and just pack it...without closing it. Not even checking for an infection. Then a couple hours later, she starts complaining about how she's burning and stinging. The nurse comes in and says "Oh let's fix that" an walks off, presumably to get supplies or something.

Now this part's a little blurry - Grandma claims she was alone in the room for three hours. Meanwhile uncle, who was in the waiting room said she was treated in less than two hours. So I don't know how long they kept her waiting.

Anyways, Grandma rings the "Call nurse" button a couple times and a nurse who she doesn't recognize comes in and is confused because, for some reason, she was told that room was empty..never mind the records state otherwise. So she goes in and changes the wound and now thinks Grandma might have an infection or some kind of allergy. The previous nurse who was on-duty apparently had clocked out and went to lunch and never said "oh yeah, can you help the old woman in room xxx?"

It gets better. :| The doctor in charge apparently says that she'll be done with chemo by february. She must have one hell of a fast-recovery for someone her age - Grandpa wasn't even done with Chemo in two months. Heck, someone I knew in Jr. high who had Hodgkins Lymphoma wasn't even done with chemo in two months. There's also the fact that, you know, Grandma just had a surgery. I'm no medical-type, but I'm pretty sure you really don't want to be giving someone who just came out of surgery (and with open wounds and possible infection) chemo.

What the heck, guys? Do the doctors in Michigan get their licenses out of a box of froot loops?!

And in other news, mom recently had a hysterectomy but we haven't had anything like this so far. Although the doctor thinks someone may have somehow accidentally scratched her cornea during surgery (?!?) but it's recovering.

That sounds like a pretty bad hospital. I hope your grandmother gets better soon.
