The Show, Fed To You In Bits and Pieces - VGF

For the second semester of this school year, we had to make a 30-minute televison program for our TV Production Exam.

We chose to do a sketch comedy show which consisted of three major skits:

1. Music Video for "Basketball Jones", a Song by Barry White and Chris Rock for the 1997 film, Space Jam.

2. The Trivial Pursuit Show- a 7-8 Minute skit in which Jake Craft and Eric Burford put on a game show using Trivial Pursuit, this was not rehearsed, and can drag on at times.

3. Shakira- An inside joke that was eventually skinned and murdered without mercy. It began with some kid playing that damn Shakira song in class.
DeJuan wakes up to hear "Hips Don't Lie" and goes on a search of who the idiots are that are listening to it.

Other features you'll be shown:

Hips Don't Lie "Music Video"- When there are 3 days left in school, you have a joke you can take as far as you want. And you have over $100,000 of technical equipment at your disposal, this happens.

The Intro to the show/Axe Commercial/Monologue- Basically what it looks like, uses the theme from "In Living Color" (Third Season). A Commercial for Axe, and DeJuan's odd Monologue.

"Funkdapuss" Music Video- Band of kids taht were in our class, originally done to "We Got The Funk", but the two Seniors that had the song didn't show up the next day, so some Red Hot Chili Pepper's song wiht no lyrics was used.

"Twinkie" posted a while ago, ending commerical

I forgot to mention, we did a spoof of "Tom Goes To The Mayor", but that didn't make it onto the actual show, because of it's content. However, the kid that was burning the DVDs forgot to put the skit on there, for our own purposes.

All 20 of us had at least one line in that sketch. It was deemed innappropriate mostly because of mine and my friend Greg's role.

Wow, if the kid who played it in class had that same sound quality, I'd be enraged too.

A little amusing at first, but didn't really pick up until you & the girls showed up.

Actually, that was the person on the audio board's fault. He had the sound level in the red which makes that blare/bass noise you hear.

Intro to the Show/Axe Commercia/Monolouge

There's slight problems with two of these:

The Intro: The light on the VTRs and iris was screwed up at the time. Which resulted in bad coloring of us, which made Kaitlin's shot dark, Eric and Trinity Green, and Greg's face yellowish

As for the Monolouge, DeJuan tended to keep the microphone too low, which means you might lose some audio at times.

Tech problems ignored:

The first vid was good; I liked the opening sequence and the Axe ad, and everything in the monologue worked except DeJuan.
"Basketball Jones" video was great.

Trivial Pursuit show
The main problem with this, other than not rehearsing at all, was that I didn't pay attention to the audio level, not to mention that Brenden wouldn't leave the mic alone.

This is the last sketch of the show, well before the band performance. Unrehearsed and really just improved, you can tell by the movements of the cameraman and random laughing.

Trivial Pursuit was actually quite funny.

I really don't get the Shakira-bashing joke, but the rest of the antics were pretty good, especially the CPR and crutch-walking.

The ongoing Shakira joke was just something that happened one day.

We were trying to find a final skit, because I quit working on the "Mr. Leo" sketch due to major screw-ups on the tapes. We were sitting around when all of the sudden, Brended starts playing that song in the computer. So we all jsut looked at him like he was retarded, eventually, Jake and Eric just started dancing like they were in the sketches, to mock Brended. And the idea for the final sketch was born.
