You shouldn't really hate a console by name or shape. I mean. If you do, you just suck. And don't deserve to come in here. Before you start rantng whether or not it's good, play the godd*mn thing.

Yeah, old news. But at least they're allowing a conventional controller to be used, as well, for those of us who would rather not tread into unknown territory. I'll still give it a shot.

The point of naming it "Wii" was to attract a broader audience. That, and people will remember the system's name easier. Most people go to a store and look for games for the "Playstation 360" or the "Gamebox." This way, according to Nintendo, people can just swing right in and not have a problem with the name. Which brings me to my next point: why go purchasing games for a system if you can't even get its name right?

Cham Zord, I think that's for parents buying games as presents for their kids.

On another note, this is what Fryguy thought of the name:

How does playing "the goddamn thing" relate to its awful name in any way?

You people really need to have your eyes checked, because no one is saying they hate the console because of its name. They're just saying the name f*cking sucks.

Given how different the controller is, any third party-based decisions are best left to Sony or Microsoft systems. It may be innovative, but it will prove prohibitively more expensive (and suckier) than even historical Nintendo. Granted, EA will code it initially, and from there, it will be easy to just update the rosters.

Boom, plus it takes to damn long to update rosters, plus new features and all that other stuff make me just buy the damn thing when it drops to about 35-40

I have some funny phrases with 'Wii.'

'Hey, there is a disc stuck in my Wii.'
'I am going to point the controller of my Wii at the television and shoot stuff on screen.'

^Not funny, try again.

Curt, official word out of Nintendo on the trademarked/copyrighted name is that the trademark/copyright offices haven't updated their lists yet due to the volume of applications those offices recieve. They said it should be on them in a few days. Hopefully its a swurve, but I'm putting the odds of that at about 15%.

Perhaps "Wii" is just the Japanese name and they'll have an english translation or something.
