But that's all I was talking about: my opinion. Your 'opinion' was that this method of controlling is an improvement, and that I don't like improvements.

I do think that many people share my opinion (although only a few members of this board do), but I don't think that Nintendo is going out of business or that there will only be crappy games on the Wii. It's just from what I've seen so far the console doesn't really appeal to me, and that's mostly due to the controller.

Also, it's customary in English spelling to capitalize adjectives when they refer to things or people from a country: in other words, it's spelled Dutch.

Look, I don't want to sound like whiny bitch, but it just pisses me off when people critisise your opinion, or counter it with a 'fact', which is just their own opinion.

Because each one perceives the other as its primary competition in the home console division. That's why they've been struggling to one-up each other in terms of graphical capabilities, processing power, and every other damned thing.

Ah, Koga. I was just mocking you, saying it would be better. You seemed to be wanting me to say that so much.

And we all know that dutch isn't important enough to be capitalized.

I'm sure there are "many" who feel as you do, but that "many" is in the minority. On poll questions on GameFAQs and G4 such as "Who had the best show at E3" or questions similar, the percentage that said Nintendo was between 50% and 60%. I think the majority of gamers are excited about what Nintendo is doing.

Of course, the fact that the majority of people disagree with you doesn't invalidate your opinion. I'm just sayin'.

I do have to ask this, though: how can the nerd in you not be drooling over the prospect of direct, swing-for-swing control over a sword or lightsaber?

^I don't claim to speak for Koga or anybody else, but, speaking personally, my desire to flail around with a lightsabre is more than counterbalanced by my desire to play a wide variety of games from a wide variety of developers.

The GameFAQs poll might not reflect reality. I wouldn't trust any online poll to draw upon an accurate cross-section of the populace. (I mean, look at this site. Judging solely by the sheer number of Nintendo-based forums, as compared to the number of forums dealing with Sony, you'd never know that the PS2 has sold well over five times as many units as the GCN.)

But of course! There's no such thing as a wrong opinion, no matter what somebody else says. There just happen to be a large number of people who have accepted the entire concept of the Wii. Of course we ARE in a Nintendo forum. If you don't feel that the concept of the Wii (nevermind it's name) isn't particularly interesting, then thats fine! We need to liven this forums up again. Cause let me tell you, that was quite intense!

It just looked more like an insult than a tongue in cheek remark, AI. I must admit, that I smiled at the dutch remark, but I was a little cranky when I read that post.

Falco, I think it would be fun to flail a sword around for a while, but not if the entire system is based around it. I had fun with Donkey Konga, but I didn't feel like playing any other games with the bongos. Also, I think some games just wouldn't work with the controller at all. In fact, the creators of SSBB agree with me on that one.

Disagree. E3 as a rule is something that only a niche group of nerds and stockholders care about. Using a Gamefaqs (unscientific, non-random) poll to say "NINTANDO FTW!1" is about as valid as me putting a poll on VGF saying "what consoles do you own," which, going by VGF's track record, I'm going to guess is 60%+ with a GCN, 25% PS2, and less than 20% with an Xbox even though the market reality shows PS2 at about 55% or so, Xbox at 25%, and GCN at about 20%.

Granted. However, it still shows a change/trend. In the last console war, these types of polls (especially at GameFAQs) never showed such wide margins, and the PS2 and Xbox were typically in the lead.

Also, notice that I mentioned G4 as well, whose viewership is most definitely not dominated by Ninty fanboys.

Ninty fanboys are notorious at posting polls all over the web and skewing the results. Even then, sites like Gamefaqs did have polls favoring the GCN when it first showed, and have favored Nintendo in almost every E3 since.

^ If I recall, GameFAQs poll for last E3 definitely did not favor Nintendo.

And again, the margin has never been this great.

Unless I skimmed over it in the archives, they didn't have a company question on E3 2005 at Gamefaqs. 04 is right on target though: 37% GCN, 32% PS2, 18% Xbox (even after Halo 2 showed). Practically identical in 2003 and 2002 as well.

Ok, lets use another example: the obnoxious character battles they run on Gamefaqs (On a side note, i hate these). It usually comes down to the annoying FF nerds fighting against the annoying Nintendo nerds between OMG SEPHIROTH and OMG LINXXORZ. Using Gamefaqs as proof of the market is just as inaccurate as using IGN's boards, SomethingAwful's boards, or even VGF's boards.

I've never seen Xbox(360) win in a GameFAQs poll, and I look at the polls almost every day.

I'm not using it as proof. But it still shows a general change. Is it proof that the Wii is going to sell better? No. Duh. Did I ever even say that? No. But 50%-60% is more than 37%.

And again, I also referenced a G4 poll.

Thing is, Nintendo always has a strong showing at E3 in Internet polls and they've yet to deliver on any of the buzz they've developed. I'm not sure how this is going to be any different at all.

In all seriousness...who really cares about what Gamefaqs's polls has to say about the three leaders in the video game buisness today?
