Game of the Week: Ninja Gaiden (vote now)

This GotW is kind of up to you, I'm going on holiday tomorrow for a week, so I'll leave it up to you to post the list of nominated games (at least 3) on Wednesday, and vote until Sunday.

About the game, being brutally honest, I've never heard of it.

Oh, GotW archive (http://www.smbhq.com/users/snss/GotW.htm)

Heard of it, never played it.

I nominate Animaniacs for the SNES.

Heh, are you guys serious? Ninja Gaiden is called Shadow Warriors in the UK, Ninten.

It's an awesome game, and it invented videogame cutscenes. They were very well done, and used to advance the plot where similar games simply ceased to have one.

Yeah, Europe hates ninjas for some reason. Shadow of the Ninja became Blue Shadow, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles became Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles.

I played this a long time ago, but never beat it because I was about to break my controller.

Where are these lemmings going? The Super Nintendo Super Shire! Hop in line and follow them there!

If I were you folks, I'd do all I could to check out good platformers as ground-breaking as the Ninja Gaiden series. Climbing walls, full-size cutscenes, great music, challenging gameplay all make it worth your time. If any of you do actually give the game a shot - just remember that practice makes perfect, and the levels are playable to the point where you don't take a hit.

I'll go against the grain and say Animaniacs, since we've seen enough 1st party titles on here.

I vote for Animaniacs even though I've never played it, for reasons AI's already said.

I'd suggest ROMing it. It's surprisingly fun for a game based off of a cartoon. Then again, so are the TMNT games.

Okay, it's "fun". But is it good? (And I don't want to hear "But a fun game IS a good game! All that matters is a game is FUN!" I swear, every time somebody says that an angel loses its wings)

Ridiculously difficult. Still haven't beaten it.

Okay, I just wrote out this really long synopsis of the game and what I think about it. When the GotW gets updated I'll post it, because this topic is about Ninja Gaiden, to be fair.
