Post Wii sells more than twice the PS3's

And Before I post any of the news clips.... Yes I know, PS3 could sell tons. If only that giant crab was not attacking the factories and doing massive damage. But whats more important is we have a Nintendo system doing good:

From Wiisworld.com:

"Console sales statistics site NexGenWars show that the Wii has already sold well over twice as many units as the PS3.
At the time of writing the PS3 sales are at 258,326 while the Wii surges to an impressive 662,719. Note these numbers are only estimates, but still. Go Wii!

According to a report by the Associated Press, Wii has sold out in retail outlets across the US.
Despite the large demand and fast sales the release went smoothly. This is contrast to the PS3's launch which saw police stepping in to maintain order over crowds of angry retards at several stores around the US.

According to Nintendo of Canada the Wii has sold all of its units across the country.
Marketing manager Farjad Iravani commented "There might be some scattered stores aboot that have a couple of units here and there, but in terms of the national picture we have sold through the Canadian allocation, eh".
More shipments of consoles are expected to arrive every week. Big N hope to sell four million units by the end of the holiday season."

It looks like a good year to be Nintendo.

That $600 price will kill Sony.

I think 2nd Opp narrowed it down to the last 10 years or so, quite rightly.

PS3 could kick the crap out of Wii at any price. The problem is Sony's got serious supply issues. Blu-ray is more of a headache than it's worth and will hand a good chunk of the market to Microsoft. The company that brought us Betamax and MiniDisc still hasn't learned.

Matter of opinion, there is no right or wrong, to some like you, the PS3 is better, to others, Wii is better.

As to which is better, it's going to be the PS3, but I meant sales.

I wish I had the money to invest in Nintendos stock before this system launched....

Finally, Nintendo are starting to reveal initial launch figures for the Wii, since its release in America. With sales of over 600,000 in Eight days, the console has been met with huge acclaim.

Titles such as Zelda have brought back old gamers to Nintendo, while WiiSports has also enabled new gamers to play this system.

REDMOND, Wash., Nov. 27, 2006 - Built on a foundation of pure fun, Nintendo’s new Wii™ video game system sold through to more than 600,000 consumers in the Americas in just its first eight days of availability. That’s a rate of nearly one per second continuously since the Nov. 19 launch. Including just first-party software and accessory sales, Wii instantly has become a $190 million business in the Americas.

During the Thanksgiving holiday shopping weekend, there was plenty of conversation across the nation about the high demand for the Wii system, with the acknowledgment that if you see one, you’d better buy it.

“Even with sales already in excess of 600,000 units, demand continues to exceed supply, as it’s clear this is one of the ‘gotta-have’ products for the holiday season,” says Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. “We’ve shipped retailers several times the amount of hardware the other company was able to deliver for its launch around the same time - and we still sold out. Given the inclusive nature of Wii game play, we’re seeing this new form of video gaming is already a huge hit with gamers and newcomers alike. It continues to be a phenomenal launch.”

The system also is succeeding in its stated mission of reinvigorating current players, while attracting new ones. Every Wii system includes the five-game Wii Sports™ software, which is the talk of the Internet, featuring countless reports on how previously devout non-gamers have suddenly been converted via the amazing new way games are experienced using the system’s remarkable controller. At the same time, the masterful The Legend of Zelda®: Twilight Princess, a favorite of avid gamers, already has achieved sales of more than 454,000 units in the Americas, representing more than 75 percent of all hardware purchasers.

Licensees, pleased not only with the sales performance of the Wii, but also its creative development capabilities, are publicly sharing their comments:

“Madden NFL 07 is a great example of how the Wii gives players a whole new experience on their favorite games,” says EA Studio President Paul Lee. “EA’s creative teams are working to build more Wii features into some of our most popular franchises.”

“The creativity we’ve been able to unleash on the Wii system with our game Red Steel has been eye-opening for our development teams,” explains Ubisoft President Laurent Detoc. “Having the opportunity to design and develop entirely new game-play experiences using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk is both exciting and rewarding.”

Classic games also are proving to be a hit on Wii, which offers downloadable access to 20 years of the best of Nintendo®, Sega Genesis® and TurboGrafx16™ hits via the system’s Virtual Console™ feature.

Well, many have doubted the credibility of the sources before now. I doubt any of that is around now. This is staggering.

A couple of friends and I were going to buy a PS3 and E-Bay it. However the display broke down and they cannabalized the last one before we got there.

If those sales numbers are worldwide, expect the Wii to go further away from the PS3n December as the Wii is released in Europe, but the PS3 won't be released until March 2007.

And now the circle is complete. When I left Shane, I was but the learner, now I am the master.

HA!

Oh god, that's just classic. It went from me being called a Shane Jr. to Shane being called a Lurch Jr.

And as to the topic, it won't mean much unless Nintendo is doing this one year from now or whenever Sony solves their lack of units.

I'd hope they would move more units at launch, especially with Sony pushing out 400K worldwide.

Wasn't there more Wii's made than PS3's during the launch?

Right now, (Almost) every Wii and PS3 has already been sold out on the first day.

You're going to have to give it a few months before we can really tell how well everything is doing. (Around that time, there WILL be spare Wii's and PS3's in the stores.)
