Wiis have disappeared....

I have looked everywhere for a Nintendo Wii, but cant really seem to find any! On Best Buy.com they had a package for $650, no thank you, and i cant find any wiis in stores or onlines alone(not in a expensive package). Nintendo DS has just pretty much re-appeared but where have all o fhte Wiis gone? Is there a shortage? Thanks

One analyst claimed Wii shortages would continue until 2009. Seems a bit much, but it doesn't appear they will be easy to locate any time this year. Production levels suck but are supposedly increasing. Some of the ones on eBay go for right around the retail price. The other alternative is to keep calling your local stores.

So far, the most reliable way to get a Wii is to head to a store that'll have them on an early sunday morning. My aunt got the Wii from a California K-Mart by doing this. (Yes, they only had one...)

If you don't want to risk that, you'll have to keep searching Wii-bay.

I got one by buying a reservation for $10. Go me.

I did see a few Wiis at Wal-Mart on shelf once, but never again.

I've seen 2 Wiis in stores ever. One of them I own, which I saw in February. The second one I saw was on Saturday when I took a visit to Canada.

There is some indication that during this summer, Wii may be relatively readily available. It will then slip back into impossible to find territory toward the holidays.

We've still got launch-day style shortages here in Europe. Some nationwide internet providers such as GAME always advertise when they have stock of the units, so getting one is still like getting gold dust.
