I love video game music. Bottom line, end of story.

^ Just for future refrance, I'm branding you as a nutcase. The DK54 version was bad enough, but the SSBM Remix....

Well, I like some VG music, and I hate some VG music.
I don't really like enough to buy it, and I don't really hate it enough to ignore it.

And remember, "Put your hands together, if you wanna clap..."

I like plenty of video game music. If I like a game's music, I try to find a soundtrack/score/whatever the crap, same as if I like a movie's music.

I think that there is some great VG music out there... Zelda tunes, MegaMan, Banjo-Kazooie...and certainly Baldur's Gate 2 (PC) has some excellent orchestration, but a lot of it is basically used as a way to pace the action. So in the end, about 90% of it is simply used as a background effect. The other 10% are made up of more 'composed' tunes to suit the surroundings, and a lot of it really great I think.

Of course, you really haven't heard music until you've heard Tommy Emmanuel play that guitar

The DK Rap, one of Rares most memorable accomplishments!

^ Sorry, but nothing on this planet can beat "Sweet Melody" by Rare.

"I am the great mighty poo,
and I'm going to throw..."

gets gagged by Metal Mario

It was late. I was tired. Leave me alone.

I love the music of the NES Mega Man games. Especially Mega Man 3.

^Most of the music for NES was horrible, but the Mega Man series had good music. The NES spin0ff of the movie Batman also had great music. That's it, I think, save the Mario, Metroid and Zelda series' music.

I don't think that's entirely fair. True, the technology back then was primitive compared with that of today, but the massive NES library of games still offered up tons of catchy and memorable tunes, many of which get stuck in my head on a regular basis.

I agree. I think there were quite a few games with good tunes that just needed a boost in technology. Listen to a few of the remixed MIDI files at www.vgmusic.com to see what I mean.
