Even if you go by melodies only I don't really like most of LttP's music. But of course that's just a matter of taste.

Ehheh, buddy, I've been playing an instrument and have been into music for over 7 years already. On top of that, I've written and transposed. Don't think that I don't know what I'm talking about.

No, I am not confusing anything. You're just refusing to see what I'm saying. First off, 2 things. 1)To say LttP's music is "better and more enjoyable than OoT's" is subjective and irrelevant. You say I need a better music vocab? And, 2) that's a MIDI. A MIDI is not the exact game music, and MIDI composers naturally spice up the theme to make it more pleasing.

So you can't use a MIDI to support your position in this case. It's not the actual thing. Sure, I KNOW I could find a MIDI of The Dark World that sounds more dynamic and powerful than a MIDI of Hyrule Field. But who cares! The MIDI isn't the actual game music.

A simple composition. Few instruments, few differing parts. Here, go use your MIDIs to see what I mean. Get a pretty exact version of the main Zelda theme. Now get a remix. The remix will more likely be a more complex sounding part, in instrumentation, dynamics, and melodies. Here's another example: The ORIGINAL SMB theme vs. Scars Left by Time from Chrono Cross. Both have good raw quality, but Scars is definitely more complex.

I guess you missed my whole section of my last post about theme vs. sound. Whatever. No, nevermind that whatever. I like the original SMB Theme as well, but I would never sit down and listen to the raw theme for fun. I would prefer a remixed or fully orchestrated version. Hate the sound, love the theme.

Very true. If you actually listen to the in-game music you'll find that OOT's is much more involved and orchestrated that LttP's.

I do a lot of work with MIDI's, and I can tell you that 95% of them are revised versions of the actual pieces they portray. Added and even different instruments and melodies are common.

yay, an outdated debate that i must restore.
Zelda 3 is that damned best game ever created, everything i see of Zelda 3 reminds me of it, and makes me go strait for my newer ported version (good greif) and i start a new file every time i beat it.
as far as the music goes, i agree with ross, its alot better. again, i hear sound and drama (the remixed tracks of Zelda 3) i want to go strait to it, pick it up and play the game to hell. something makes this 16 bit music alot better than the Zelda 5 stuff. as a whole Zelda 3's OST is better than Zelda 5. Zelda 5 didnt even have the classic zeldar music. bah
gameplay is more fun too, overhead zelda beats 3d zelda anyday.
as for tubs "harder" comment, I beleive Zelda 64 is alot more tough than Zelda 3, thne again... i've known zelda 3 in, and out, and i know everything about it.. heh heh. ^_^;;;

Of course, we need to take into account the size of OOT's world in comparison with LTTP; there is quite a difference. Also, there were probably many things that the record holder didn't bother getting in his play through of LTTP. But think about it (here comes my point ); If the dungeons in LTTP had more depth, then surely this guy couldn't skim through them as quickly as he did. You sure as hell couldn't race through OOT's dungeons at that speed.

Well that time is easy with a rom game. With the ZNES emulator you can save states, so if you mess up you can just start over at that saved point, and then print screen the end result. Not only that, but he probably skipped almost every item. Which would still be easy if you had a save state.
OoT is better in every way. LttP couldn't hold a light to Ocarina.
If you want a real challenge, trying beating my OoT record. Beat the entire game, with only 3 hearts and ONE life and no faries. I've done it, but I had a lot of milk.

And is that you Golem? I remeber that g@y sounding sig that was "~TeeHee".
