According to IGN, Nintendo has announced that Retro Studios' next contribution to the Metroid series will debut at this year's E3! The game won't be playable, but instead on display via a short video teaser clip. After the greatness that was Metroid Prime, I can't wait for this sequel.

I love Metroid Prime, but I would also like to see Retro work at another type of game.

But then again, Rare started with 3 Donkey Kong titles when they developed exclusively for Nintendo, and they came with a lot of awesome games afterwards.

This topic reminds me that I need to go back and actually finish Metroid Prime. Princess Zelda's wholesome allure took me away from my beloved Samus for a time, but I can hear the sultry alien slayer beckoning for me from another room...

That had to be the most fancy post that has even been seen on these forums. Watch out Tri; you might put Hawthorne himself into shame.

^^Tri's already put Hawthorne to shame by using such eloquence without being eternally depressing.

It's too soon for another Metroid game. Besides, A sequel to a sequel? What the hell is that?

It's never too soon for another game of Metroid Prime's quality.

Fool, what the hell are you talkin' 'bout? Making sequels to sequels is how you get a series. The Mario games are sequels. The Zelda games are sequels. A helluva lot of the best games out there are sequels.

As long as it's not first person, and SAMUS keeps her suit on, it should be a good game.

Well, after all the hype about Double Dash, Pikmin 2, and so fourth, I can safely say that there probably aren't going to be any surprises at E3 this year.

Well, ok. I'll be fine with it as long as a)it's not called Metroid Prime II (XD) and b)it's not FPS again.

How would you like it to be then? 2-d Metroid games are better off on GBA, and a 3rd person 3-d Metroid would be weird.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

I could always use another game of the quality of Metroid Prime. Bring it on!

Dude, the first-person view in Metroid Prime was awesome. I definitely want the next game to be like that.

Why would it be weird? It could easily follow the mold of the Metroid "norm."

Uh, yay?

I mean YAY!

Oh, sorry to stray off topic, but I'm thinking of buying Metroid Fusion. I heard it's something like Castlevania, so could someone explain?

I played Super Metroid on SNES, but it was so long ago and I played it only for a short while.
