I always liked to play video games, I used to play games at arcades, and I loved the SNES so much, I always wanted to play it when I went to my friend's and cousin's house. Unfortunately, my father would not let my sister and I get any video game systems. But in the Christmas of 1997, my mom bought us a N64! I couldn't believe it! My dad was mad at my mom, but my mom didn't care, she thought my sister and I deserved it. I just wish our dad wouldn't of been so stupid and allow us get a SNES back in the early 90's. But that's my story. [ November 25, 2003, 04:40 AM: Message edited by: Yoshi Girl ] | |

| Zelda Mod Join Date: Jun 2000 Location: All over the place Gender: Posts: 12,333 Thanks: 86 Thanked 456 Times in 274 Posts | My parents owned an NES some time before I was born in the December of '87. When I was two weeks old, my dad was playing Super Mario Bros. I was watching, entranced, as he blasted through the first level. Upon reaching a point where there were no enemies, he....he placed the controller in my hands. I didn't do anything but play with the buttons, not yet realizing it changed anything on the screen, but that's how it began. The madness started early. |

| Guest | I can faintly remember a long time ago when I was 6 or so, my family and I were just visiting at a friend's house one Saturday night, I think it may have been New Years or something; there were other families there too. Anyways, I went downstairs and saw some of the older kids at the time (around 13 or so) playing some sort of game on the TV. They were playing Super Mario Brothers on the NES. I watched them trying to pass Bowser's first castle (World 1-4 I think) and they kept dieing whenever they reached Bowser. I was so mesmerized by the whole thing that I couldn't tear myself away from watching it. Then I thought about it the whole night later. Although I didn't get to play that day, I would get to a short time later at my cousin's house. That's when I first held a video game controller. I sucked really bad at first, I just held the D-pad to the right and kept walking into the first Goomba, until my cousin showed me how to jump over them and run fast. So that's how it started with me. I asked for a Nintendo the next year for Christmas, but it didn't get one. It wasn't until the following year that I got my first video game system ... and it wasn't the NES. Instead, it was an SNES!! Along with Super Mario All-stars! I'm pretty sure that was the happiest day of my life so far. Every video game system I got after that, whether it was a gift or bought with my own $, didn't have as great a defining moment as that SNES did; although they were really great moments! So I guess we can safely say that most, if not all of us grew up with Nintendo and our entire childhood somehow evolved around it. If I don't shuddup, I'll get into my entire life story! So I'm going to shut up now... *shuts up* |

| Guest | It all started when I was but five years old... It was my birthday. I had absolutely no idea of what I was going to get. The only gifts I remember are some weird plastic six-pin bowling game, and a Sega Saturn. VGFers: BOO! SATURN SUX! LOLOLOL!!!!!11236 Hold on. I'm not done. I had a couple of games, Sonic 3D Blast, Daytona USA, and Virtua Fighter II. I played those nonstop until exactly two years later... I thought pokemon anime was awesome back then. VGFers: BOO! pokemon anime SUX! LOLOLOL!!!!!11236 I also wanted to try the game Pokemon Yellow. I thought that if I wanted a game boy color, I would have to wait until Christmas. But, for my birthday, I got a gold plated Charizard card, an undersized pokemon shirt, and A GAME BOY COLOR! VGFers: YAY! NINTENDO!!!1234567890 Alright, I eventually got Pokemon Yellow. But one day, I was at the store, and my mom let me pick out a Game Boy Game. I was looking at Super Mario Land: Million Seller. "Hey, I've heard of Mario! Maybe I should try it! And I did. I poped it in my gameboy, and I saw a simple, gray title screen. From the looks of it, I thought it was a crummy game. VGFers: BOO! I LIKE.... AW, SHADDUP! I thought for a minute... "Hey, (NAME WITHHELD!)! cheer up. Maybe it isn't so bad!" Once again, I trusted my instinct and pressed on. I was suprised with the fun factor, and I was hooked. I eventually got Mario Land 2, and found it even better. Even more recently, I got a PS2 for Christmas. VGfers: BOO! okay... I soon got a GBA... VGfers: YAY! and then a Gamecube... VGFers: YAY! and the rest is history. |

| Guest | It all started on the snowy day of January 16th, 1989 where my mom was going to the hos-... Whoa..NOT life story. Ok..fast forward. I was 5 years old. I was over my cousins house and I was bored. She had her old NES and Genesis hooked up and she would let us play. The games I played at her house were SMB, SMB2, SMB3, Duck Hunt, Zelda, Zelda 2, that...track running game(only a few times..she rarely got out that old mat), Sonic 1-3(3 was owned by my other cousin), spinball, 3-d blast(also owned by my other cousin)...and I think that was it. OH! I can't forget, my uncle had a genesis of his own with the games Golden Axe and Altered Beast. Hah, I played em all. I don't know what happened to all of those games, they are all packed up in storage(or lost) with their respective owners. Fast forward...hmm...a year or two. I get my own Super Nintendo. W00tzor! The games I had that I remembered were DKC, DKC2, SMW(I think..), Yoshi's Island..thats really all I remember. These also got lost in time...somewhere. So there you have it. I've journeyed far and wide(throughout my small and boring town) and gone through the many tough adventures(like sitting on my ass playing video games) but I've played some of the best! --------------------------------- ~Gamer Chris ![]() GC's Funny Quotes "I went to a fight the other night and a hockey game broke out." ~Rodney Dangerfield [ December 15, 2003, 09:59 PM: Message edited by: Gamer Chris ] |

| Guest | It was Christmas 94, I was 9, and had absolutely no interest in video games. Still, my parents(Santa Claus at the time) gave me a Super Nintendo with Super Mario World and Super Mario All-Stars(not the 5-in-1 cart). You wouldn't believe how stupid and ignorant I was when it came to video games. My dad was playing Super Mario Bros. and I actually thought that I could help him out by using controller 2. I also thought the battle mode was the main game in Super Mario Bros. 3. In SMB and SMW, I thought I had beaten the games when I passed the first castles. I am better at video games now, though(not much better). Since I got a SNES video games have been one of my main interests. |

Now remember: Sega do what Nintendon't! Oh, and I first bought a N64 in 1998...Boo...should've just waited for Dreamcast. Nah j/k N64 was a great system, definently above all its competitors (PSX, Saturn). However Genesis IMO is undisputedly the best of its time, and that was the genesis of my gaming. | Guest | My cousins already owned an NES before I was born. I saw them playing when I wasn't even months old. They got a new one and I inherited the other one. A couple years ago it stopped working... but I had a replacement one that works fine. On another note, would there be any way to fix that "broken" NES? When I turn it on, no matter what I do, the light and screen flashes repeatedly. It used to do that before, but it'd work again after I bashed it with my head. ![]() |

| Guest | Played video games for many years before owning a console that hooked up to a TV. Had a GB for ages, and plenty of games, until my cousin Peenark gave me his SNES and all of his games. Played the hell out of most, bought many more, and sold the crummy ones.. My favorite console to this day. |

| Guest | It was on Christmas Morning on December 26 1986, I had just opened up my first present and saw that I had just been given my very own NES system with the complimentry Mario Bro./ Duck Hunt game and original grey colored lazer gun. My very next present that I opened made sure that I would forever be a loyal fan of the Nintendo Franchise. For when I tore away at the wrapper did my eyes become blinded by the shiney golden box that read these simple but awe inspiring words : THE LEGEND OF ZELDA !!! It was all over after that, from that moment on as a small five year old I swore I would keep with nintendo as long as they made Zelda games!! To this day I have every Zelda game to ever come out by Nintendo !!! [ December 18, 2003, 01:20 PM: Message edited by: Joker: The Vampire God of Vengeance ] |

After their interest declined, I got hooked. Since then, I've played other Nintendo games, but I really liked the Mario series. ^_^ I still like it to this day. |
