Rockstar Games is planning what they call "an extension of the Grand Theft Auto franchise for GBA during the fiscal year of 2004".

That's really all the information there is at the moment.

I thought Rockstar signed a contract agreeing to never release any Grand Theft Auto games on any Nintendo systems...

I believe that they signed a contract with Sony. But that contract is over, I think.

Go ahead MM, you know everything.

The exclusivity of the GTA franchise to the PS2 is over. Recently, GTA 3 and GTA: Vice City were released on Xbox. I also remember Rockstar Games saying something a long time ago about bringing those same two games to the GCN, but I've heard no word of that plan since.

This won't be the Game Boy's first GTA game, however. Both GTA and GTA 2 were released for GBC, and GTA 3 was released for GBA.

I remember hearing about the GTA Gamecube thing too, but I didn't think they would do it.

There's no chance in hell Rockstar would put Grand Theft Auto on the GCN. I don't even know if Nintendo would even want the series.

Why wouldn't Nintendo want the GTA franchise on GCN? It's a highly successful series of games. Wake up and smell the coffee, guys. The whole "kiddy" stigma is completely untrue. There are several great mature-themed games on GCN, and there's no reason in the world why there shouldn't be. Gamecube caters to virtually every conceivable gaming taste.
