Nintendo has recently announced a series of Game Boy Advance games. These games are all re-releases of classic Famicom games from way back when. The titles will include both first and third party games. They are priced at 2000 Yen ($19) a piece and will be released on February 14th. Here is a list of the first batch.

Super Mario Bros
Donkey Kong
Ice Climbers
Excitebike
The Legend of Zelda
Pacman (Namco)
Xevious (Namco)
Mappy (Namco)
Bomberman (Hudson)
Star Soldier (Hudson)
Update: Alongside the release of the Famicom Mini line of games will come a release of the Famicom style Game Boy Advance SP. This system was previously only available during a special promotion. It is colored to match the original Famicom's color scheme. The only difference between the promotional and retail versions of this system will be the color of the buttons. The system will also include a copy of Super Mario Bros.
The only thing that caught my interest was the GBA SP. If they made one in America fashioned after the NES, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. But as for rehashed games... meh. Most can be played via E-Reader or Animal Crossing (or gasp...! The old NES). I sort of doubt these games will make it over here, especially at that price.

Why do they keep re-rereleasing the same games over and over? (*cough Pac-Man, Super Mario Bros., Legend of Zelda cough*)

^Do they think they're going to magically get it from releasing the SAME EXACT games more than 3 times?

My god. Nintendo is really starting to go overboard with this re-releasing stuff.

I'd rather have them on one Gamecube disk than fifty GBA cartridges.

It'd be good for gamers like aussies that never saw some of these in their original release!

I think it's a good idea. Personally, it'd be even cooler if they combined some for GCN like all the SMB's maybe. Money is the key factor here.

Honestly, I can understand re-releasing old titles for newer systems - but I think that would only be necessary every three systems or so. Of course, that logic excludes the whole money factor...

Now what I want to see is a re-make of Super Mario Bros. 3 for the cube - but with a 3D engine! No recycling, this would practically be a new game. I can just imagine exploring the larger levels that retain the same feel as the originals, but with obvious additions to fill up that whole extra dimension.

A collection of all these games in one would be worthwhile. This is just crap.

...Aren't most of those already available as GBC/GBA carts or E-Reader cards anyway?

But it's profitable crap. And of course, it is the wacky Japanese market we're talking about here.

Wow... Will they bring back Duckhunt while they are at it?

Duckhunt + GBA = Bad idea.

Duckhunt would be a pretty bad idea. It's no fun with a cursor instead of a gun.

Hee hee. They could come out with Zapper Boy Advance. ^^ Tiny little mini-gun you point at the GBA SP, and...

Ooh, and then a tiny power-pad, for Family Fun Fitness Advance!

Yeah, but imagine aiming a tiny gun at a Game Boy Advance screen while on a road trip. I've seen portable games with included zap guns, and trust me, it doesn't work.

Actually, TI-83 Duck Hunt is pretty fun.
