| Guest | I was reading through the reviews of Banjo Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge for GBA on toyrus.com, pulled this quote out of one: "Stop taking the fun out of your gameplay with player guides" So, that brings me to the question....do you agree with that quote, or do you think it is unreasonable? I highly disagree with that quote for quite a few reasons. I use guides all the time (Well, not all the time, but I use them a lot. I don't care, say what you want, but getting stuck and not knowing what to do is not fun, IMO). I used guides with some of the Zelda games, and I can say that I had just as much fun as anyone not using one. And as I said before, getting stuck and not knowing what to do is NOT FUN IMO. (This strongly applies to Zelda games, because I would have never beaten them without a guide). Also, I think if you read just a bit ahead in guides, they can warn you of any cheap incoming ridiculous dangers that lie ahead. Even if you don't use them through the whole game, and just use them when you get stuck, do you think they take the fun away? |

Players Guides take the fun out of Zelda games and RPGs and the like, because they generally have a lot of puzzles, secrets and things that are usually challenging mainly because you don't know how to do them at first. Like the Water Temple.. confusing as hell, unless you're following a guide, where you can beat in in a half hour with no trouble whatsoever. Also, I think you get a better feeling doing something with no assistance. That said, guides are awesome for finding leftovers secrets and easter eggs, things you never knew existed, and so on. GameFAQs loses a little bit of merit because occasionally the authors either don't know what the hell they're talking about, or leave out too many details. | |

| Guest | Someone once said "First at first you don't succeed cheat". I'll try puzzles in games but if I fail after a good long while I'll find a Walkthrough on the web. Or if I complete a game then try and find other stuff again I'll use a walkthrough of the sort. |

| Guest | I didn't find the OoT water temple as hard as the MM Great Bay temple... so many pipes... >_< Anyway, it depends on how much you use them. My little sister has a strategy guide in her lap from the moment she begins a game to the moment she ends it. I, on the other hand, refer to guides only when I'm really stuck and have seemingly tried everything. But like NintendoNut said, if you use it too much, you begin to rely on it. That's the tough thing about guides. |

I mean, where's the suprise in that? There's a difference between using a player's guide/FAQ for all of the game and using it only when you're seriously stuck (as in, being in the same place for over an hour or so.) |

| Guest | I personally don't like to use guides, unless I'm really really stuck to the point where it's no fun to be stuck anymore; I've only used them maybe a total of five times in my lifetime - and usually before I resort to a guide/FAQ, I'll ask one of my friends or someone. But guides can be a good thing. I think it's silly to use them through the whole game, but hey, it is just a game, people can play how they want to. I think it's more fun if you try to do things on your own though. ~mariofreak~ Kings of Chaos | Andyman1655 Click to support my army by getting me a soldier - just click the number shown, and then you can close the window after it loads. | Guest | I only use guides if absolutely necessary. If not, I'll wing it and see how it goes until I'm absolutely hopeless on it. I'll also use guides on things like finding those extra secrets, items, moves, whatever. And lets face it, noone would be able to figure out how to get a Chaos Chao in Sa2:B without a guide of some sort. Whoever found out themselves has waaaay too much time on their hands. --------------------------------- ~Gamer Chris ![]() GC's Funny Quote "In case of an emergency, my ass can be used as a flotation device." ~Bender, Futurama |

| I'll use guides only when ABSOLUTELY necessary to stop me throwing a game through the window from utter frustration. Last one was quite some time ago... a Pokemon Guide to find a certain Pokemon I hadn't gotten! ![]() | |

| Guest | Oh, now that I read my post over, it looks as if I use the guides the whole game. Well, let me make myself clear. I usually don't unless i'm stuck (not even seriously stuck, I may just be even too lazy to figure something out) and I of course use them for finding hidden secrets and stuff |
