One of the best games ever released for the Game Boy Advance is Advance Wars, a brilliant turn-based strategy game that has near infinite play value due to its extensive single player campaigns, its multiplayer support, and its built-in map creator. A couple months ago Nintendo revealed that the company would be producing a sequel to that game, Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising, due for release in June of this year. Nintendo has slowly been peeling the wraps off the follow-up, releasing a screenshot here, a bit of information there, but it will be at the Electronic Entertainment Expo this May that the game will finally be exposed to the mass public. But before that happens, there may be enough details about the game to get the die-hard Advance Wars fanatics out there excited for the sequel.
Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising is again in development at Intelligent Systems, one of Nintendo's most active internal Game Boy Advance development teams in Japan. The sequel actually builds off the existing assets used in the original game; it's more of an upgrade in gameplay and storyline than in graphics...as you can see by the latest screenshots.

In the single-player campaign, players are out to combat the evil Sturm, the commanding officer of the Black Hole army. Just like in the original game, players will have to work their way through the ranks, defeating many new COs under the influence of Sturm's command. Each CO has his own special CO powers, and in the sequel, there will be new effects during battle, including rain destruction and typhoons to control. The sequel will also feature new units, including a powerful Neotank.

Of course, there will be hundreds of brand new maps to conquer in both single and multiplayer modes, and the map creation mode will also return to the design for the sequel. As many as four players will be able to battle against each other in multiple and single cartridge modes.

AW is very good, except you can get the same stuff out of it if you just download it. But, hey, it's still a very good game to play with friends... If you have four hours.

No, you cannot get the same stuff if you download it. Do you take your pc on the bus? On the toilet? In your bed?

These are a few of the new COs. There's still a few from screenshots that have yet to be identified...

And it said on Nintendo's site that all the original COs will be included. Yes!

Intelligent Systems likes to keep up with Fire Emblem and Advance Wars. Not a bit ago, I believe, Fire Emblem 7 came out in Japan and I downloaded a rom. I can say that it's much easier than 6.....

WEHRE IS MAH ADVANCE WARS 2!?

Here's some more info and screenshots from NoA's site.

I don't know if this new game is going to topple my respect for Eagle. By far the coolest CO in the first game.

..in my book. Gotta love the major ass with a huge ego that has a kind heart on the INside!

I got everyone, except Nell. But I already liked Eagle's personality before I unlocked him.
