Who would outeat the other: Yoshi or Kirby?

Let's read the facts:

- Yoshi can eat almost anything and then crap it out as an egg.
- Kirby can eat almost anything and then absorb it's powers.

- Yoshi uses his long tongue to snatch things up from a distance.
- Kirby uses suction to pull his prey into his mouth.

- Both can eat to excess without any apparent weight development.

- Yoshi's mood depends on how much fruit he eats and how often.
- Kirby just devours whatever's in his path.

- Yoshi will eat anything, as long as it pertains to his particular taste and isn't dangerous to ingest.
- Kirby will eat anything regardless of shape, size, toxidity, or pointyness.

So, if the two were to compete against each other in an eating contest, I'd have to say Kirby would win, though he certainly could take some health advice from Yoshi.

Yeah, as much as I'd like to hope that Yoshi would OWN Kirby, I think Kirby would emerge the full-bellied one.

^Actually, Kirby wouldn't emerge the "full-bellied" one. Yoshi would have a full belly LONG before Kirby would feel any food hit his belly IF Kirby has a belly at all.

I'd disagree. Kirby only tends to eat things roughly equal to his own size or slightly larger, and he is only 8 inches tall. If he's just under the span of a dinner plate, I don't see how he eats more than Yoshi.

Don't try to bring the Smash Bros. series into it, because those aren't even the actual characters - just figurines. They weren't made in scale to one another, because some of the characters would be ridiculously larger than others(Such as Samus, who is over 6 ft tall).

The problem with trying to say that Kirby is eight inches tall is that it implies that he's placed against some scale by which he could be measured against the Imperial Standard, when he hasn't. Every planet Kirby goes to has him "standard" sized, which is to say the same size as the other inhabitants there or very slightly smaller. Yes, bosses often dwarf him, but that gives no actual indication of his size.

If we don't include Smash Bros. then we can't necessarily take the Kirby trophy as being the only factual evidence concerning his size. We have no clear indicator as to how large he is except for his interaction with objects in his own world, the scale of which suggests that he's more like two or three feet tall.

More than that, though, Kirby can inhale food with hurricane-force winds and has no apparent limit to how much he can eat. He'd clean off a whole buffet table while Yoshi was still sitting down.

If you thought the factual histories of the characters used in Melee were somehow connected to their representation of the characters in the game, you'd be wrong. That'd make Samus roughly a foot tall.

Besides, Yoshi can act fast in the right hands. I was specifically disagreeing with the "Kirby eats larger things than Yoshi" statement, though.

I'd say based on his games that Kirby actually tends to take longer to swallow.

Have you ever played Super Mario World? Yoshi can eat two enemies at once in it. Similarily, have you ever been walking past a bush with fruit on it in SMW, and then noticed the fruit gone in the blink of an eye?

I think you're too used to seeing baby Yoshi. The one that makes "Bling Blum" and "HHuuuuuuhhhhh" sounds. I don't know why Nintendo has continued to use that model, probably just because retardedly cute things are very popular in Japan.

It's been too long since I've played SMW, so I don't really remember that; however being extremely cute hasn't yet hampered Kirby's eating abilities. Can't he hold like 3 enemies in his stomach at a time in the DS game? The current Yoshi definitely can't do that. Food -> egg -> new food just isn't as efficient as Kirby.

Though I agree the baby Yoshi is inferior to the original.

My point was that his abilities aren't the same as baby Yoshi. Baby Yoshi doesn't eat as much/as fast. If Kirby can actually swallow 3 enemies at once, I'll concede that. I don't remember being able to do that, though. I'm still pretty sure Yoshi actually eats faster, which is usually the point of an eating competition. They've both got bottomless stomachs.
