Rockband on Wii Confirmed

Rock Band confirmed for Wii - Wii News at GameSpot

I've played Guitar Hero 3, and was disillusioned with how easy I found the demo songs, but I've been really interested in Rock Band. I might make SD play it with me. :D

I've been interested, but not enough to justify spending $180. Still, this is good news.

I acknowledge that this is good news, yes, and if you can shell out the money, it's a very fun game. However, I don't think this will sell very well because for every group of friends, only one copy of the game is necessary (which really is the beauty of the game. Co-op is crazy fun). Remember now that other incarnations of this game have been on the market for a good while now. Chances are, most people who would be into this game already have access to a purchased copy, and even if they don't own it themselves, they're probably content to play who-ever's copy they already play. I count myself among those people, and I know that I won't be buying the game for myself anytime at all soon.

Chances are, there are more Wiis in homes now than any other next-gen system. A lot of people don't buy more than one gaming system, and a lot of the people who bought the Wii don't usually buy gaming systems - they might find it appealing in the same way they find Wii Sports interesting.

I believe that audience would find the price tag a bit tough to swallow, unfortunately. People who bought Wii for a pack-in game might feel completely cheated by an investment like Rock Band. And although Wii may be more common in households than either the 360 or PS3 (I'd have to double check that), I doubt it has surpassed those two combined, making it ultimately less common than consoles that have had Rock Band since initial release.

Also, the game's reputation for frequently broken instruments probably hasn't helped it lately (this happened to my friend's guitar, and it was a pain in the kiester for him to get it fixed).

^That's the main reason I didn't get it. (Other reasons--I'm a cheapskate, they probably wouldn't let me take that big box on the bus.)

I don't see why not. There's a Wii shop channel specifically for that reason, after all. But of course, we all know how often the big N denies us online features for no good reason.

It's more to do with not providing them than some sort of denial of an existing service. I understand the game is expensive. Everything is expensive here, though.

I own a Wii, and I was waiting for this to actually come out. I may actually buy it. Marketing this game successfully will be tricky, but I'm sure they know a lot more than we do and already have it all figured out. Also, for it to be coming out later there must be something that we don't know about for sure. They wouldn't make a simple port of the game so late in the game.

PS2 RB came out a month after PS3 and 360 with less than the others.

This probably just means that Nintendo is finally allowing DLC.

^This is exactly the point that will make Rockband for the Wii profitable. They realize most people own a Wii and don't own an xbox360 or a PS3 and no one would bother buying crap for the PS2 anymore.

I don't care.

I'm the only male below 40 and above 5 on my street - I have no one to play with.
