I'm hoping this can stay here, seeing as it's gaming related. Anyhoo..

I'm sure a great deal of you get annoyed with your games during difficult portions, or just get frustrated easily with screwups in general. This is a poll to see what most of you are like, and what has.. suffered as a result of it.

And since it's much too hard to make a poll about it.. What games have you found to be particularly aggravating, or which parts in any game you've played?

No, I get irritated easily
Hurl controller on the floor, curse and curse loudly
Cartridges, controllers, and nearby objects
**** THE COMPS. Oh, and some parts I just suck at...
3, I think.
Look at GameFAQS and sometimes dont play the game for months on end

Some of the only times I've lost my temper were when playing certain video games.. I've probably bought more controllers than games. ~_~;
F-Zero GX, anyone?

I lose my temper with games easily, but I've never broken anything. I've tried to (the controller while playing Ninja Gaiden), but I've never succeeded.

Where are these lemmings going? The Super Nintendo Super Shire! Hop in line and follow them there!

1.Usually, depends on the game.
2. Curse, possibly at high decibals, and mangle the controller. Nothing too over the top...
3. Controller if anything. I have a few bite marks on my wavebirds...more on that later. >_>
4. It's usually the "This part is frustrating" but sometimes it's "HOW THE HELL DID THAT MISS", or "Nothing I ever do is my fault and a malfunction of the game itself". Heh.
5. None.
6. Gamefaqs. Sometimes I persist or set the game aside.

Games that have gotten me angry...hmm. F-Zero GX definetly. I remember getting angry at OoT and Metroid Prime a few times. Most recently was FSA.

About the bite marks, eeeeeh heh heh. Giga Bowser.

I typically swear through gritted teeth, and usually mangle the controller. If I'm truly getting pissed, I'll hurl the controller at the floor. I've lost 2 Cube and 2 64 controllers this way, though the Cube ones seem a lot more resiliant. Ended up breaking both 64's in one day, and one throw is all it took for each.

..granted, I tend to put a lot of strength into these fury-throws.

I've gotten better with age. Or the game have gotten easier. I think the games are just easier.

God, those old NES controllers were durable. It was their small, flat design. You could slam them on the floors as hard as you wanted, they survived. SNES was almost as good. I wouldn't dare try it with the ultra-large N64 or GC controllers, though.

I note you didn't put 'chew through the cord' on there. I'd have qualified for that. Mm, rubber.

I'm not a curser, never was (well, now I'm older I do it VERY quietly. It's shameful to be heard using low-brow language). I've made inhuman noises, however.

The games that used to do it to me were... let's see... the NES Ninja Gaiden (the final world! aargh). Tetris (I got so mad at that game once, I saw red once, and began smelling odd odors that were not, it turned out, actually there. It scared me), and a few poorly-made rentals.

Memories...

I'll end up swearing through my teeth if I die multiple times.

All my controllers have survived thus far, except for one SNES controller (actually, the control pad came off somehow oO And several N64 controllers (the joysticks are messed up). N64 controllers really aren't that durable. I usually don't throw my controllers on the floor.

As for the games, it really depends. If I can't get past a part, most of the time I'll just keep trying repeatedly, but sometimes I'll set the game aside for a while (I find myself doing this with my Playstation & PS2 games. FFVII, FFX, .hack, Lupin the 3rd). After a while I'll have forgotten why I put them down, then play them, suddenly remember, and put it up again in frustration.

^ I'm with ya there, Dee Emm. Or I just go to GameFAQs...but sometimes you can't help it! I spent a bleeding HOUR playing .hack\\Infection last night, trying to get one, yes, ONE ladies and gentlemen, Viral Core C. You know how many Thousand Trees I had to whack?? Kept giving me darned Frost Bracers too--WHY would a tree give you something ice related?? ...Seriously, just wondering. =] THAT is the type of thing that pisses me off.

..Ever tried to get multiple Economizers in FF6?

Damn, I forgot chewing. I think I've done that before, when I was younger.

And DM, the joysticks are exactly what's screwed about my 2 controllers

The only game that has caused me to truly "lose it" is Mario Golf for GCN. Trying to unlock Baby Bowser by getting 18 consecutive Birdies in the Jungle Course is outrageous because they're all Par 3's and one slight miscalculation screws you over and you have to start at the very friggin' beggining.

Well, I finally make it to Hole 18 and misread a ten foot put. I lost it completely. I swore multiple times at very high decibals and proceeded to absolutely trash my entire room in a fit of rage before coiling up in a fetal position in the midst of my destruction and pouting/yelling.

Heh, I was afraid i'd seem like an idiot, but since some of your posts are as bad as what i've done...lets go...

I'm not generally that bad with my stuff...usually shouting and swearing at the game does the trick.

I've only lost one 64 controller to throwing, and it's only takien damage to the control stick...it lags on the left. The other controllers have had to deal with Mario Party minigames and a puppy.

My DK64 cartrige has been thrown across the room because of some dumb minigame, but the only problem with it is that it rattles around.

Ah, yes, the games which have caused my all this agony during my past few years.

Well, let's start with Super Smash Bros. Melee and Mario Kart: Double Dash!!. Those two rank about even on my list for 1st place. Then coming in are other games like F-Zero GX, Eternal Darkness, Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, Mario Party 2 and Mario Party 3 (I'm sure Tub remembers that )

hmm.. i find using pillows to be a good way to let out some rage. either punching them, throwing them across the room, or screaming into them, i always have some pillows ready when the going gets tough. some particularly frustrating moments i can remember off the top of my head... how about all those times in Mario Kart 64 when the computer passes you up at the VERY LAST second to beat you at the finish line. and i dont know if anyone remembers this, but that one heart piece in Majora's Mask where you had to turn into Goron form and roll past that obstacle course-like thing in the cave... VERY frustrating.

1st dead Cube controller- My 20th attempt at beating the Final Destination Match event in SSBM, a few days after I got it. I had managed to do better and better each attempt, and this time victory seemed to be mine. Crazy Hand had long been destroyed, and I was carefully going back and forth between flutter-kicking Master with Yoshi, and dodging his attacks. Well, I'm somewhat beat up now, and Master Hand is down to 10% HP. I don't know what attack he's going to use, but I start my usual retreat to the center, and his hand snaps back quickly. Just as I quickly hop up to air dodge, WHAM- his hand flies out and smacks the **** out of me, and I'm KOed, my hands wet with sweat, eyes full of disbelief and rage. The rest of my family was at a boring New Year's Eve party, so I took the opportunity to beat the **** out of the controller and swear loud as hell.

2nd dead Cube controller- All Cup Tour on Mirror Mode, MKD. Up to Rainbow Road, I was having bad luck in later races and needed a first place to get the gold. Things are looking great up to the final spiral downwards to the finish. I always hate this part. Hit a banana peel hugging the edge and spin out, get going again and hit a bogus item box, and then JUST as I get to the finish line a spiked shell nails me. As I fly into the air, the prick Wario goes ahead and takes 1st. Other comps pass me, and I end up with 4th.

The second controller had already been abused a lot from previous races that made me furious, but this one had me reeeally pissed. A few throws, and the controller was screwed.

Yeah, it seems like the Gamecube controllers would be the easiest to break because of the internal rumble feature. I've only broken an N64 controller, and it was because of Mario Kart 64.

Hm. Non of my Cube controllers are totally busted, but two of the four are at the point where when you don't touch anything, it drifts to the left, or when you move the control stick it spazzes out and moves in another direction too. This is regardless of the unplug-it-then-plug-it-back-in bit my brother and I go through so often.

Haven't broken anything, but I do swear a lot.
Ninja Gaiden, and F-Zero GX are the games that have caused me to flip out the most.
