Many of you will have played this. However me, being a deprived European and all, haven't. Whilst you discuss, please cast your vote for next week's game of the week. You can choose from the following list. Oh, and please only vote once. Starfox Armada Starwing Chrono Trigger Super Mario 64x4 Tales of Symphonia (by request) |

Earthbound is one of the few RPGs I loved enough that I actually finished. The others being Chrono Trigger/Cross, SMRPG, and Skies of Arcadia. |

One of the few RPGs that didn't take only 10 hours to beat the second time I played it. Crammed with stuff to do. No sidequests, though. Everything is mandatory. |

I can't think of how the game mechanics are any different from those of Final Fantasy 4. As for the "random insanity", maybe that was something new to RPGs, but not something new to video games. I don't know what game introduced that, but I do know Nightshade predates Earthbound by a few years. I don't know when they came out, but Lost Vikings is pretty wacky, and, while I've never played it, Legend of the Mystical Ninja is supposed to be crazy enough to make Nightshade and Lost Vikings wet their pants in fear. Probably the RPG I've played with the most unique play mechanics was Skies of Arcadia, where you could alter the attribute of your weapon to try to find an enemy's weakness as well as learn magic. ![]() Where are these lemmings going? The Super Nintendo Super Shire! Hop in line and follow them there! |

I liked this game. I didn't like Prince Poo though. And those battle backgrounds burnt my eyes, but I loved it anyway. And do Tales of Symphonia. |

EarthBound was great. Not the best SNES RPG, but an awesome one that seemed to actually have a bit of difficulty. Oh and put Tales of symphonia next. |

They could finish it up, and even add new features, using the DS. God, that'd rawk. |
