The DS is backwards compatible with all GB games. Thus rendering the GBA obselete when the DS comes out. Miyamoto described the DS as Ninrendo's "3rd pillar."(Alongside the Game Boy and GC) Does this mean a new Game Boy is in development?

It's possible, although Nintendo's got a lot on their plate right now.

I don't believe the third pillar stuff. I think Nintendo just made that claim to show that the DS is something totally new, not just a better version of the GB.

^But that's completely rediculous. Of course it's the succesor of the GBA, or else it wouldn't be backwards compatible.

What is completely ridiculous? I agree that it is the succesor to the GBA. I just think that they used that 'third pillar' argument to make people believe it was something totally new.

I think what Nintendo is saying is that they'll still make the GBA for more traditional style of gaming; one screen, normal buttons, etc.

If they want to do traditional stuff, they'd just use one screen and four buttons. That's what the Mario Bros. DS game looks like. I beleive the DS is just the next Game Boy, with a different name.
