It does play GBA games, but I heard it doesn't play the original Game Boy and Game Boy Color games.

I don't think it needs to be able to play the Game Boy and Game Boy Colour games. It's fine as it is.

I wouldn't play them on my DS anyway, nor would I play my GBA games on it. I've got the GB player for that.
