I recently came across this title and I was really surprised to see this. Particularly the subtitle, because I'm pretty sure it's a Queen reference.

Queen's 2nd album (aptly titled Queen II, see my avatar for the album cover) was a concept album about a world where there were a white and black side battling each other. Here's the tracklist:

1. Procession
2. Father To Son
3. White Queen (As It Began)
4. Some Day One Day
5. The Loser In The End
6. Ogre Battle
7. The Fairy-Feller's Master Stroke
8. Nevermore
9. The March Of The Black Queen
10. Funny How Love Is
11. Seven Seas Of Rhye

It seems obvious that it's intentional. If it was just Ogre Battle it could've been a coincidence.

So for anyone who has played this game, what kind of game is it? Are there references to a White Queen, a Fairy-Feller, a path of Nevermore, or a land called Rhye?

Oh, and before you suggest Queen was inspired by the game, the album is from 1974.

Welcome to a long time ago, Koga. I think this has been pretty much confirmed many times.

It's a strategy RPG, though I don't know a lot about it, because I've never played it, nor Ogre Battle 64.

I didn't know this was common knowledge. Both the game and the Queen album aren't really well known.

In the Netherlands, maybe.

Granted, a complete copy is much more expensive than just the cart, but it's like that for all games. But take a look at the counters on some of these. Hell, one's at over 500 hits.

I've never used eBay, or any similar program, so I'm not sure what you mean. Are you saying it's being offered over 500 times on eBay?

I'm not sure whether it was ever released in Europe, but it wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't, as many RPGs didn't make it over here. Even if it was I would've probably never heard of it, since that type of game has never been my favourite. I also wouldn't have got the Queen reference as I had only heard the greatest hits CDs back in the SNES days. Furthermore, I was also asking for some additional information to those who have played the games, so I'm not sure what you're getting at with your 'welcome to a long time ago' attitude.

No, what I'm talking about is one of those auctions had been looked at 500 times.

Sorry about the attitude thing. This topic had been brought up at Flying Omelette's recently and seeing it again so soon had somehow gotten on my nerves, and I had forgotten about how few RPGs had been released in Europe.

Yeah. Common game, very popular. And the name was changed in translation, so.. Someone's idea of a joke, I guess.

So Enix didn't intend it to be a reference to Queen, but the translator did? That's somewhat dissapointing.
