"All Your Base" is an Internet fad. Those are exempt from the rules which govern normal fads (i.e. Rubik's Cubes, Pet Rocks, etc.)

I don't want to turn this into a philosphical/religious debate, but how does there need to be a god in order for there to be a devil?

Devil and God are extreme opposites. One is holy(God, duh), one is pure sin(Devil, even more duh). In other words, the Devil is the Anti Christ. We can't have an anti something without something...erm...regular.

Besides, if there were a devil, and there weren't any God, we'd have died out a LONG time ago.

Something lacks definition without its antithesis.
In the case of 'God' or the definition of universal good, evil takes on more of a definition of the undoing of harmony. Still, the word evil is best left to theatrics.

Incorrect. God and Satan are NOT extreme opposites. God created Satan and gave him the choice of evil or good. Since God created him, He's more powerful. Basically, according to Christian theology, God is just giving Satan a (relatively) short time for him and his demons to tempt humanity before He shows up at Armageddon and starts kicking *** and taking names.

Satan used to be an angel called Lucifer according to some stories. He fell from grace after he craved for too much power and he got hell assigned to him by God. I don't think this story appears in the Bible at all, but it is very common in (medieval) literature.

Anyway, we were not talking about God or Satan, but about a god and a devil. Basically what you're saying is, if evil exists, God must exist (skipping a few steps of course). Nice logic, right there.
