This week marks the trial run of the new Game of the Week system which you have helped me put together over the past couple of weeks. For that I thank you.

Ok, the proceedings will be as follows
Starting today you will nominate a game to go on the list of contenders for next week's Game of the Week. Only the first 5 games will be accepted and only one nomination is allowed per person. Don't bother wasting your time with a blatantly retarded nomination because it won't be accepted and that will be your nomination wasted.
You have until Wednesday to choose 5 games to go onto the list. On Wednesday evening I will post the list from which you can vote for next week's Game of the Week. You will have until Monday to choose the game.
Oh, and don't forget that amongst all this, there's still a game to discuss .

To start off this new system I've decided to pick the winner from the last topic which was Legend of Zelda. I never owned a NES so I didn't play it until I got the Zelda Collector's Disc. I played and thoroughly enjoyed LoZ, what about you?

I nominate Boktai: The Sun is in your Hand.

I have this on Collector's Edition as well. Great game, how lovely it was when is was on the NES, such great gameplay.

I have to gold cartridge on the NES, but I never beat it until I played in on Collector's Edition. Nice, challenging game.

I'll nominate Eternal Darkness. Was this already GotW?

Yeah, we've already had Eternal Darkness for GotW. The screen was Pious casting a spell to talk to Xel'lotath.

LoZ... I honestly never finished that game. I'm not sure how far I got into it, but it was a long time ago. I don't remember the swastika dungeon.

I nominate Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest for NES.

EDIT: Just being nitpicky. I typoed "Castlevania".

I have this for the NES, but it doesn't work. However, I also have this on the Collector's Disk. Good game, incredibly difficult at times because of the iffy controls, and I had to resort to a guide several times, because a) I couldn't find the right dungeons and didn't have the will to try, and b) so many areas required bombs to be placed, but unlike future LoZ games, there were no signs that a wall could be bombed.

I nominate Metroid Prime 2: Echoes

I played TLoZ on the NES before, but that was just a borrowed copy...Like most of you, I also have the Collecter's Edition disk. on that one, I got as far as facing Manhandla, but couldn't beat him without the Magical Boomerang (The blue one), which I couldn't get back in the second dungeon...I tried the bombs and the Blue candle, but I could not beat this guy!!!

I think MP2's also already been GotW. Unless it was from MP1, the screen was of Samus standing in a sort of rainy area, in the direction of the camera, and you could vaguely see her face through the visor.

I've checked the topic list and both Metroid Primes have already been GotW.

One of the nice things about nominating somewhat obscure games is that you can almost assure they haven't already been GotW.

I'm positive that Wario Ware has already been up there.

Okay, how about Super Monkey Ball? Has that been GotW?

It has. The screen was the Crygor game where you had to shake the dog's hands.

As for Monkey Ball, I have no recollection of it.

Sweet. I'll nominate Ducktales on the NES. Awesome game.

The original Legend of Zelda was a damn good classic game... It was one of those things where my brother and I just knew how to get past the secrets by word of mouth.. Didn't have them there internets back then.

Ok we technically only have 4 games. Kunx nominated Eternal Darkness and that's his nomination. Unfortunately Eternal Darkness was GotW not so long ago. If there isn't a fifth game picked within the next hour or so I'll just pick my own to go on last.

Boktai: The Sun is in your hands
Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest
Ducktales
Skies of Arcadia: Legends

If anybody would like, when I get home I could whip up and host a webpage that lists all the games that have already been GotW.
