I never played this game, I'm guessing it came out before I discovered Nintendo.

Last week's vote was tied between this and Super Mario World. This means that there will be no nominations this week. Just discussions of this game. Next week we will resume the normal system.

There was also an arcade version.

Anyway, I've played this game, but I only reached that Prehistoric stage after Shredder sends you back in time. I've only played it once.

Love this game. The arcade version is superior.

The arcade version has its ups and downs - they're about equal, in my book. I tend to think I'd take to the arcade version more, though - being that it was so rare around here. I wish I'd still see the old machines around, but there weren't nearly as many as the original arcade game. But, yeah - the simulataneous release of both Turtles III and IV nearly made my head explode, as a kid. Love all of the original Turtles brawler games dearly.

Oh yeah, one of my favorite TMNT games. Ever.

The benefit of the SNES version was the extra levels, although I'd probably perfer the arcade version (Sadly, I don't remember there being a Turtles in Time arcade cabinet in our town).

Then there's the first arcade game, but Turtles II on NES was... well, for the original Nintendo, it was a great adaption.

(Goes off to find the original cartoon theme again)

Edit: I notice that the screen is the Euro version, seeing as the censoring must of caused the name change.

I don't think it's censoring, but a copyright issue. For all Turtles-related stuff in Europe Ninja was replaced with Hero. Star Fox also used to be a copyright issue (Star Fox = Star Wing, Star Fox 64 = Lylat Wars, but they solved that before Star Foz Adventures).

Anyway, I didn't know there was an arcade version, but I played the SNES version a lot. I borrowed it from a friend for quite some time. I loved to play two-player mode, and I really liked all the different themed worlds and boss-battles. I know Slash was always a pain in the ass. I would really like to play this game again some time.

It wasn't just Ninja Turtles.

What do you Euronis have against Ninjas?

I wasn't aware of that. That's kind of weird.

Yeah, saying "ninja" is about the equivalent of saying "go **** yur mother" or something. Anyways, I loved pretty much every Turtles brawler there was - still play and love 'em today. Loved them more than Battletoads, if only because the Turtles had more creative muta-villains. That was the thing about 80s-early-90s cartoons, they had a penchant for coming up with the most intricately creative mutants ev@h, and TMNT was King Dedede.

As for arcade vs SNES - I just have better recollection of the arcade version, namely that in the arcade version the foot soldiers died by exploding into the massive flash-pillars of light, which was sexiliciously awesome, and in the SNES they had kind of a crappy "boom" explosion. There were different bosses and levels, but to what extent I;ve forgotten. also, playing arcade games used to rock This was back when you played with quarters as opposed to dollars (wtf?), so you could have a good old time. I loved arcades when I was a kid, damn. Mortal Kombat was probably my first videogame, Legend of Zelda(nes) my first console game. But I'll never forget MKI. Mmhm.

In America, "fanny" means "butt" and is considered about as harmless, maybe even less. In Britain, it's... well, the other side on a female and is considered as offensive as our profanity for it. So who knows, maybe you're closer to home than you think.

So, in Europe, Real Ultimate Power is pretty much the dirtiest non-porno book ever?

And remeber, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

^^^ The whole "quarter versus dollar" thing really gets me. I walk into an arcade expecting to maybe chuck some spare change into (digitally) kicking someone's ass - not make a ****ing down-payment towards dancing (mind you - I do use the term dancing loosely). When I was younger, and I was bored, I decided to make a music video featuring CG skeletons. My friend and I asked his younger brother what he thought we should do (with the intention of doing the opposite of whichever he suggested), make skeletons kick eachother's asses, or make a ****load of them dance. And what did he suggest? Dancing. He was declared "wussy", and we made those skeletons commit acts of violence. The moral of the story - No means no! Use the broken record tactic! Because drug dealers always try to force you to take lots of free drugs.

(Related to above debate)
I think even Japan itself calls 'em Hero Turtles, which is stupid because JAPAN INVENTED NINJAS.

(Unrelated to above debate)
Personally, I like the original arcade game, but Turtles in Time is still awesome.

That still doesn't explain Ninja Gaiden/Shadow Warriors and Shadow of the Ninja/Blue Shadow.
