So when you talk about Mario games I assume that's what you refer to. With all the games that feature Mario it's actually too generic to talk about 'Mario games'. That's a bit like talking about Samuel L. Jackson movies. |

Perhaps the true specification would be to call it a Mario Bros. game. The platformers were obviously forerunners in their field, and have always set the grade (aside from Sunshine. It was hardly anything more than a mod for Mario 64). Otherwise, you'd have to count **** like NES Golf or Pinbot or QUIX as Mario games, because he's in them. Donkey Kong would become a Mario game, and I know the 1 DK fanatic on the internet would throw a fit over that. Soul Caliber 2 on GCN would be a Zelda game, and Galactic Pinball on VB would be a Metroid game. See what I'm getting at? The Mario sports games are that much with Mario's name tagged onto it. The Paper Mario games are hardly canonicle in the Mario Bros. sense. Hell, I'd hardly consider Mario World 2 to be canon. ![]() [ November 06, 2005, 03:10 PM: Message edited by: The real A.I. is here to stay. ] |

Just understand how an oldschool Mario fan sees it, because we've been here to appreciate all of them as they were received. My perspective is so warped, though. I mean, I love the comic book/cartoon Mario. Not the Mickey Mouse-Mario thing they've been using. Lacks personality. Then again, I'm probably just old ![]() |
