One of the biggest cheers of the night was for Edge (during the SNME taping) and John Cena was booed out of the building (so much, that after Raw went off the air, he pretty much turned heel on Lashley). Other than that, after that 4 1/2 hour taping, I don't care if I never watch wrestling again for the next month. EDIT: Actually saying Cena was booed from the building is not that acturate. During the Raw main event, the fans actually started doing a call-and-response chant of "Let's go Cena, CENA SUCKS!" Last edited by Sean P Kelly; 05-29-2007 at 07:37 AM. |

The only other major event I attended was Wrestlemania X8 in 2002. When I was a kid, I went to house shows (back in the days when they were pretty much the only way to see wrestling live). Back then, house shows were on every 1-2 months instead of now when you are lucky to have 2 live shows a year. |

First there was a short Dark Match featuring Chuck Palumbo. Saturday Night's Main Event John Cena vs. The Great Khali This was a pre-PPV squash by Khali. The fans were actually cheering him. Vince McMahon vs. Bobby Lashley in an Arm Wrestling contest I find Vince's voice sounds more hoarse live than on TV. Vince call out Mark Henry to do the contest for him. I'm not sure who won (either Mark Henry won or it was a no contest), but afterwards Mark Henry beat up on Lashley. Batista & Chris Benoit vs. MVP & Edge The best match of SNME. Edge pretty much got the hometown ovation in his first appearance after his title win. He was actually hardly involved in the match and ended up walking out on MVP and Chris Benoit made the pin (which probably made the fans happy -- a Canadian wins and Edge doesn't lose) Finlay & Hornswaggle vs. The Boogey Man & Little Boogey Man This was a comedy match all the way. It ended with Finlay pinning Little Boogey. After a washroom break I barely made it back to see the Etreme Expose and the aftermath of the previous match (Hornswaggle and Little Boogey interupted the dancing in the ring and picked too members of the expose up on their shoulders, who decided to start fighting each other) Kane, Doink The Clown & Eugene vs. Kevin Thorn, Viscera & Umaga Yeah, you read that right. Doink was in the match. It ended with Kane chokeslamming Viscera. Between SNME and Raw there was another Dark Match with The Highlanders, but I think there were running low on time, since the match suddenly ended with a DQ win. Raw (since you would know results alright from last night, I'll just include my thoughts) Memorial Day Match- Candice Michelle vs. Mickey James vs. Maria vs. Jillian Hall vs. The Extreme Expose (Layla, Kelly, & Brooke) vs. Michelle McCool vs. Kristal vs. Melina Let me just saw I had no idea what was going on in this match until the final four. Definitely not the best way to start Raw. Another note, the ring got soaked during the match and they actually had to put TWO new canvases on the ring to cover it up. All this happened during Shane McMahon's promo. 8 Man Tag- The Hardy Boys, Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch vs. The World’s Greatest Tag Team, Johnny Nitro & Kenny Dykstra Stole the show, best match of the night. Especially when you see the uninterupted 20 minutes. John Cena got booed like hell during his promo. RVD vs. Randy Orton This was also a very good match (a good half hour of action). Ric Flair & Torrie Wilson vs. Carlito & Victoria Everyone loves Flair. This match seemed short after the two lenghthy matches before. There was then the little confrentation with Chris Masters and Santino Morella. Nothing really to comment about there. Shane McMahon, Umaga & The Great Khali vs. Bobby Lashley & John Cena I already mentioned the back and forth cheers and boos for Cena, so I will go into detail on what happened after the cameras went off. Cena looked angry after losing, but he eventually shook and raised Lashley's hand. However, he then tried to sucker punch Lashley and Lashley responded with a powerslam and left (note: Just before he left Lashley picked up and looked at the WWE Championship, which makes me wonder if it's a sign of things to come). Cena then spent the next few minutes selling the crowds negative reaction (i.e. "what's the deal" looks). When he finally goes up the ramp, instead of raising the belt he just shrugs the crowd off and leaves. |
