I am currently a blackbelt in Shotokan Karate under my Grandfather who is my Sensei Gabe Operanta, who is also the founder of the WSKA. ![]() Last edited by MasaHiro; 07-30-2008 at 05:01 PM. | Condescending Film Jerk | I took a few Shaolin kung fu lessons back at Milwaukee and I own a book on Tiger/Crane style of Hung Gar Kung Fu which I'm learning, slowly but surely. I'd hardly consider myself to be a martial artist, though. |

L.A (if you live in the area I can give you the adress and recomendation so that you don't pay full price for a 3mo. semester) I also took Yang Style T'ai Chi Ch'uan from Master Su Zi Fang for 3 years. Their school is not that far from LAX in the city of El Segundo. It's mostly girls who practice here and alot of seniors go to their 'soft hands' teaching courses but its a very serene envoirnment and they really teach you on a person to person basis so get that extra attention when perfecting your motions and styles. I stoped going and practicing once I became entangled in High School life and started puffing the leaf and chasing the muff around meh, I still practice my Ti Chi from time to time to relax myself after a nice blunt. |

However with the Hung Gar style, you will eventually need an instructor to show you at what point during a strike or block your arms/legs will need to lock or stiffen up. And of course how to carry your balance during some of the more intricate stances that some of the animal forms require, not to mention the speed separation between certain kicks and arm locks. But yeah it’s a great book done by a very talented teacher; I studied with him directly (parents forked over the extra $250 a month) for my first three years there. Then my last four were spent rotating with some of his co-instructors. He’s got a really great school wit a nice garden in the back where we used to do most of our sparring. For people just starting out I would recomend the GFF (Gung Gee Fook Fu)book since it covers all five animal forms and gives a decent representation of strikes and blocks with plenty of pictures to help you out. Also when learning forms and strikes from a book it is always best to practice infront of a mirror as it helps with the visual effect of comparing to that which is in the book. I've been learning with her for about a year now. I've also been practicing escrima and JKD at IMB with Sifu Richard Bustillo since 2004. And I've been practicing hatha yoga since 2007 at a community center. Not bad. Oh yeah.... I've been studying Tekken moves since 1994. Seriously! Peace |

I'm one of those people who can see something, almost anything, and imitate it. I used to be above average as far as speed went. Which is surprising given my physique. By "speed",I mean that I couldn't be touched if I didn't want to be. Gale never saw this because it was at a place that ,if he were to come within 50 meters of the place he would most likely disenigrate. Gale did see me, however when I started becoming more energetic. And was literally looking for fights. I haven't practiced anything, but weapon skills in a while. I would get out every day if i could, but with the heat going on down here,It wouldn't be wise. Something weird about the way I fight,is that all the moves come outta nowhere and are apparently pro-grade according to alotta people. I mean seriously the moves I've never even seen before happen, and happen properly. Or at least they feel proper, and work as they should, and get the jon done. But whatever, Yeah I'm one. PS: Damn Gale!I didn't know you got that much trainin. Id like to spar sometime. Last edited by Guildmaster; 07-29-2008 at 04:02 AM. Reason: Damn Smily got in the way. |

| Kick-boxing isn't for me, I mean I guess it would be good for keeping in shape. But then again any MA would be good for that. | |

| ^ Yes. Since you're taking the Sword (Ken) Way (Do? (Since Jutsu is Skill, and Po means Path)) of life. It takes elements from Sword work from other MA, I Guess. I do a bit of Kenjutsu. | |

Tis in our blood (my ancestors were gallant knights), so if anybody wishes to challenge me to a duel, then I must say you would be foolish. ![]() |
