Smarks vs Marks

The controversy over the explosion angle has got me thinking about the two types of wrestling fans:
  • Marks - People who believe the kayfabe
  • Smarks (Smart Marks) - People who know what's really going on
I have been a wrestling fan for 16 years! Throughout those 1 1/2 decades, I have evolved from a 9 year old mark to someone, who's technically smark, but prefers to be a mark (since it's more fun).

I was into all the internet wrestling news for a while, but I eventually found out that I did not like always knowing who was going to appear on shows, when someone is expected to get a belt, all the politiking backstage. It made the shows no fun to watch.

So, for the most part, I have shut out all the internet rumours and just watch wrestling the way you are supposed to (with a suspension of disbelief).

Now the question that comes with this explosion angle is: While we can suspend our disbelief for the shows, do we also need to know some of the backstage info so reality isn't blurred TOO much?

So, Smarks or Marks?

I, for one am a Smark, becuase I know these angles are predetermined publicity stunts, even if they seem real. all the fire department losers who actually believed Vince was dead are marks I presume. This kid at my school Is the biggest mark ever. he told me at school today, "Vince Mcmahon is dead you know". I mean, how pathetic is that? I guess this storyline proves Vince is now a head booker, and books worse storylines then Vince Russo. and you all know how terribly done HIS were....

Are you crazy? Vince Russo did amazing things for the WWF.

^ I agree, the only real problem with Vince Russo was that he leaned more towards the entertainment side of "Sports Entertainment" (i.e. most of his controversial decisions are explained away as "it makes for good entertainment").
