^Which is, oddly enough, how I predicted it would happen a while back.

And so the WWE fans are screwed by the very doctors who made wrestling fun again by announcing a year-long Cena absence.

This is exactly why I haven't watched wrestling in two years.

I have a suspicion that last night's moving of the Cena/Orton match to No Way Out may have been a response to fan backlash.

They wouldn't end a 15 year tradition of the Rumble winner fighting at Wrestlemania for no reason would they?

That said, I really want Jeff Hardy to win the Elimination Chamber and win the belt at Wrestlemania.

As much as I hate John Cena, I'd rather reserve the Royal Rumble/WrestleMania connection.

WWE should have just moved Cena to SmackDown. I understood him being on Raw back when he was popular, but Raw proved that it can now survive without him.

It isn't really the first time the winner of the Royal Rumble didn't fight at Wrestlemania:
  • The first 4 Rumbles had no prize period
  • The 1992 Rumble was for the vacated belt
  • Steve Austin's 1997 win was controversial (and he instead ended up fighting Bret Hart at that year's Wrestlemania with the title match being Sycho Sid Vs The Undertaker)
  • Vince McMahon "won" the 1999 Royal Rumble and forfeited the title shot the next day, which resulted in Stone Cold winning the shot at the next PPV.

Right. I didn't say that. But think about this: you already elaborated on exactly why those two Rumbles turned out different. Austin didn't move on because of the controversy (he was eliminated earlier in the match). Vince McMahon wasn't even a wrestler, so naturally he wouldn't main event WrestleMania. What viable excuse can WWE make for moving this match? "He wants revenge sooner?" Right, that's why Cena was repeatedly pointing to the "WrestleMania" symbol above the ring during the Rumble, isn't it?
