Current Events in... Well, Wrestling

I didn't want to bump any topics, and this forum has essentially become my place to discuss current wrestling events because I'm a huge ****ing kid at heart.

So Wrestlemania is coming, and the matches are falling into place exactly as I predicted them. It's actually scary. I knew Edge/Jericho was going to happen, and I had a feeling about Sheamus and Triple H because they're so goddamn similar (seriously, H's early career is essentially the same thing, except Sheamus plays the brutality thing rather than some weird french etiquette gimmick and he's genuinely foreign). Shawn and Taker will likely end predictably, because WWE knows they can't axe the Taker's streak without losing most of the draw of current Wrestlemania. While I respect their decision to just rehash the best match of last year again, it's a little bit of a rushjob and I feel the storyline leading up to it is far less well-developed. In fact, this year's Wrestlemania leadup in general feels... Weird. I just hope they manage to convince me before the event itself that these matches are worth anything. And seriously, Vince. Cut the guest host ****. I appreciate the wrestlers and legends, but the celebrities are getting consistently less entertaining. Except Gus. Gus is a ****ing badass.

As to TNA... What the ****. I've been keeping an eye on it for ****s and giggles, and it's like they couldn't learn from their previous mistakes, dammit. I mean, WCW was a colossal, legendary failure, and these guys are even rehashing the same storylines. Seriously, guys? You're going to do the whole "EARL HEBNER SCREWED BRET! AND THEN WE SCREWED KURT! SEE WE CAN SAY SCREWED TOO!" thing? It's ridiculous. Oh, and stop trying to revive nWo. It's too late now. I respect TNA for trying. I really do. They've given a lot of very nostalgic wrestlers a place to die, and they've got some genuine talent hidden behind all of that. But trying to compete head-on with a company you know you can't beat (especially in the era of DVR, so people can just watch both and Raw loses little, if any, of its current ratings) is essentially a death sentence. Monday Night Wars Take 2 is just beginning, but I have a feeling it won't be half of what the old one was. As long as TNA doesn't get bought by WWE, and then WWE doesn't rip off ROH like they did ECW for the new "HONOR ERA" of WWE, we shouldn't be repeating the nineties too hardcore.

Anyway, Stone the **** Cold is going to be back to host next week (WHAT), but I won't be around to see him. Rumors of a certain Great One appearing in a few months are also flying around. Perhaps WWE is genuinely concerned about TNA and is trying to pull all the viewers in with their own legends of wrestling. Who knows.

And that was my rant. I'm going to go do something intelligent now so I can wash the "guilty pleasure-ness" of all of this out of my mouth. D:

Also, here. Have a HALAPENYA BURGER:
