Talking Guitar Hero 2 Announced for 360

September 27, 2006 - Today at X06 Redoctane and Activision announced that Guitar Hero II will be available for Xbox 360.

The president of Redoctane is quoted in the press release stating: "The tour will continue the rockin' gameplay Guitar Hero fans have come to enjoy, and will now include expanded Xbox 360 capabilities. With Guitar Hero II for Xbox 360 rock rhythm, lead, or bass guitar tracks with downloadable content and the new X-Plorer controller, designed specifically for the Xbox 360."

They also mentioned that the large hard drive on 360 and Xbox Live Marketplace creates endless possibilities for downloadable content. While the press release doesn't state it specifically it looks like we'll be rocking out wirelessly on the controller pictures below. We'll have more on this title from X06 as the event continues.

I prefer the way this controller looks compared to the other one for the PS2.

^I haven't seen a release date for the 360 version, but, according to a press release I caught, it should be out in time for the holidays.

All I want is a couple songs by my favorite bands (Metallica, Dream Theater, DragonForce). They already have more Megadeth, so I'm somewhat happy. I highly doubt they'll put up DT or DF, but I can always hope they will until they release the final song list.

I think that RedOctane is gonna make a bunch of money off of this. Think about it: ANY Rock group,(or any group or person) could pay RO to have a GH song. OMG!!11 Squee! Um, MCR and Breaking Benjamin, anyone? This would give artists an unbelievable amount of publicity, and RO would make money. I think this is a serious win-win.

Plus, the Online posibilities are unlimited. This game is going to outsell freaking Oblivion. Seriously.

^Doubt it.

By the way, in case anybody hadn't heard, a new 'Banjo-Kazooie' game is in the works. I'm pleased.

Danzig - "Mother"
Cheap Trick - "Surrender"
Wolfmother - "Woman"
Spinal Tap - "Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight"

2. Amp-Warmers
KISS - "Strutter"
Nirvana - "Heart-Shaped Box"
The Police - "Message in a Bottle"
Van Halen - "You Really Got Me"
Kansas - "Carry On Wayward Son"

3. String-Snappers
Foo Fighters - "Monkey Wrench"
Alice in Chains - "Them Bones"
Iggy Pop and The Stooges - "Search and Destroy"
The Pretenders - "Tattooed Love Boys"
Black Sabbath - "War Pigs"

4. Thrash and Burn
Warrant - "Cherry Pie"
Butthole Surfers - "Who Was in My Room Last Night?"
Matthew Sweet - "Girlfriend"
The Rolling Stones - "Can't You Hear Me Knocking"
Guns N' Roses - "Sweet Child O' Mine"

5. Return of the Shred
Rage Against the Machine - "Killing in the Name"
Primus - "John the Fisherman"
The Sword - "Freya"
Thin Lizzy - "Bad Reputation"
Aerosmith - "Last Child"

6. Relentless Riffs
Heart - "Crazy on You"
Stone Temple Pilots - "Trippin' On a Hole in a Paper Heart"
Stray Cats - "Rock This Town"
The Allman Brothers Band - "Jessica"
Jane's Addiction - "Stop!"

7. Furious Fretwork
Anthrax - "Madhouse"
The Living End - "Carry Me Home"
Lamb of God - "Laid to Rest"
The Reverend Horton Heat - "Psychobilly Freakout"
Rush - "YYZ"

8. Face-Melters
Avenged Sevenfold - "Beast and the Harlot"
Suicidal Tendencies - "Institutionalized"
Dick Dale - "Misirlou"
Megadeth - "Hangar 18"
Lynyrd Skynyrd - "Free Bird"

Bonus Tracks
The Last Vegas - "Raw Dog"
Drist - "Arterial Black"

The rest of the bonus tracks are being kept a secret by Red Octane and Harmonix. They a least want to keep some songs a secret. I'm still pushing for "Through the Fire and Flames" by DragonForce.

According to GameSpot, a picture-happy retail employee snapped some pictures of all the songs available for purchase. With apologies for yet another bump, I present the unlockables.

Artist--Song
The Acro-brats--"Laughtrack"
All That Remains--"Six"
The Amazing Royal Crowns--"Mr. Fix-It"
Anarchy Club--"Collide"
Bang Camaro--"Push Push (Lady Lightning)"
Breaking Wheel (formerly known as Artillery)--"One for the Road"
Brian Kahanek--"Gemini"
Buckethead--"Jordan"
Count Zero--"Radium Eyes"
Dethklok--"Thunder Horse"
Drist--"Arterial Black"
Every Time I Die--"The New Black"
Freezepop--"Less Talk More Rokk"
Honest Bob and the Factory-to-Dealer Incentives--"Soy Bomb"
The Last Vegas--"Raw Dog"
Made in Mexico--"Yes We Can"
Megasus--"Red Lottery"
The Neighborhoods--"Parasite"
Shadows Fall--"The Light That Blinds"
Strong Bad (of Homestar Runner)--"Trogdor"
That Handsome Devil--"Elephant Bones"
Vagiant--"FTK"
Valient Thorr--"Fall of Pangea"
Voivod--"X-Stream"

I've only heard of 6 of those bands, 2 of them are returning from the first game (new songs of course) and one of them is quite fictitious. And no DragonForce. I am left somewhat disapointed.

Step 1. Load gun.

Step 2. Put magazine into said gun.

Step 3. Get out of under the rock you live in.

Step 4. Point gun at face and click.

The should get Guitar Hero for the Wii. That wireless motion sensing technology could seriously have some cool ideas for actually PLAYING the guitar. They already have a game I believe in the near future where you actually conduct a symphony using the Wii Controller.
