This pack had two new gametypes and a few maps. The difference from the other downloads they've released? The five dollar pricetag. Yes, that's right...Microsoft is testing out one of the things they said they'd do from day one...charge for content downloaded on Xbox live. The price is only in effect for this one particular pack, and to my knowledge, no other games have downloads that cost anything. Question is: what do you think of this. |

| Guest | I'll pay for downloadable content, but only if I feel that (1) they couldn't have put it into the game without significantly delaying the release date and (2) it's a good value for the money. For example, I'd happily pay $1-$2 per new Splinter Cell mission but not $5 or more (given how easy the other ones have been). When I was beta testing Xbox Live they were offering new cars for download in Re-Volt for $1 each (they didn't actually charge your card of course, that was just a testing thing). That's the kind of thing I wouldn't pay money for. [ November 30, 2003, 11:29 AM: Message edited by: Tritoch ] |

The Mechassault pack doesn't seem worth it to me, mainly cuz it doesn't give new mechs, and what it does give you is something that most titles give for free (more maps). Games like Splinter Cell would be worth paying for updates, since they've put out several new missions (i think they released two in the last month). |

Music seems different to me, since you're dealing with licensing fees and the like. I'd like to see more d/l content offered, but I know I really don't want to pay money for anything outside of a major update. Personally, I think XBL should give subscribers like 20 free downloads a year. After that, then they should charge you for making the downloads. |
