Assassin's Creed

Just wondered if anyone else had played it (well, I know YF has), and, if so, what anyone thought of it. Opinion seems well-split among reviewers--none of the universal acclaim you sometimes see.

Personally, I'm midway through Block 5 (about halfway through the game). I think it's pretty damned good so far. Of course, I also like crazy over-the-top swordfighting and sandbox-type gaming, so I might be excusing flaws others note.

I watched my brother play most of it (little feller was having such a blast I couldn't bear to make him watch me play) and it looked like it was definitely a lot of fun, especially the more you understood the combat, but I can see where some elements would be mind-numbingly repetitive in a Spider-Man 2 sorta way.

Still, though, that free-running and the actual assassinating looks like it's purchase-making.

Just beat it. The ending was a little screwy kablooie, but aside from that, this was a damn good sandbox murder fiesta. Easily as good as 'Just Cause'.

Fixed, I'm serious. It's like they engineered the game for me. Stealth, medievial-ness, and Templars. :3

^I was talking more in terms of game type than overall quality (though 'Just Cause' is pretty damned awesome, too). 'Assassin's Creed' has a lot more in common with 'Just Cause' (and the GTA series, now I think of it) than with 'Halo'.

'Just Cause' was pretty epic. I mean, there wasn't much in the way of stealth, medieval-ness, or Templars, but there was plenty of tank hijacking, base-jumping, guerilla assaults on military bases, jetboats equipped with missile launchers, and secret police getting shot in the face with Uzis while onlookers scream 'Mother of Christ!' and run off. Also, the last mission in the game involves a skydive-chase that culminates in the hero blowing up an old guy with a satchel charge and then parachuting to safety. (OMG SPOILAR. As if anyone here were going to pick up JC anyway.)

Dude, I'm not trying to knock Just Cause. I played the demo, and I'm probably gonna pick it up sooner or later. I was just saying how awesome AC is, not neccesarily comparing it to JC.

^Never said you were. Just felt like pontificating a bit on 'Just Cause'. No real reason.

What system is this "Just Cause" for?

Not sure. It's on 360 obviously, but I think it made a regular Xbox and PS2 debut too.

^Correct. I bet you'd like JC, Wy. It's like GTA and the movie 'Desperado' had a baby and raised it on a diet of raw meat and gunpowder.

Just found out they're working on a sequel. That rules.

That's because they already have a sequel planned Boo, supposobly it's the first part in a series.

Personally I loved the game but I gave up on trying to find flags pretty early on in the game. I also love abusing beggars, I can't help it.

^I know there's sequels planned. The ending still didn't make sense to me.
