Is Balrog Link?

Mmkay. We have Link. Skinny prettyboy Hylian who screams when he attacks people.

Here, we have Balrog. Skinny prettyboy Spaniard who screams when he attacks people.

Yes, the two have their differences: Link uses swords, Balrog uses claws. Link kills things that try to kill him and saves the world, Balrog kills ugly people and sells drugs. They both lost their mothers.
But.
They're both similar! They're both skinny, have muscle, and are blonde. They also like wearing masks and not speaking. Last, they both work for people who wear shoulderpads.

They're a bit too similar for my liking. Discuss.
If you take this seriously I'm going to shoot you.

I was confused by the topic title. What you have there is Vega. Balrog is the black boxer.

I know about the Vega-Balrog-M.Bison mixup that occured in Street Fighter 2, but it's been pretty well established that it was a mixup and that's Vega. At least in America.

On the other hand, I always wondered if that "Oh, it was a mixup" was a coverup for the M.Bison/Mike Tyson lawsuit, and it appears the Japanese action figures still read "M.Baison"(M.Bison) for the boxer and "Barurogu"(Balrog) for the Spaniard.

Where are these lemmings going? The Super Nintendo Super Shire! Hop in line and follow them there!

B) Accuracy.
C) Vega/Bison has an attractive female counterpart. Link does not.

Appearantly because that's what they've always wanted to call him, except Mike Tyson sued Capcom over there being a black boxer named "M.Bison".

When I first saw this topic title, I thought we were talking about the Balrog from 'LoTR'. I was looking forward to a Nappy-esque rant about how Tolkien's hideous fire demon was actually one and the same as the Hero of Time. I am disappointed.

(EDIT: 'Bison' sounds like the German word 'beissen', meaning 'to bite'. Given his penchant for gnawing his opponents' ears off, maybe Mike Tyson should consider a name-change.)

The dude with the mask, right? He's Vega, it's been too publicised. If you don't like that, too bad. Sometimes the world just doesn't care.

As for them being similar... I don't think so. Vega is supposedly ridiculously vain, while Link is portrayed either as silent or underconfident(manga in mind, after the games - the cartoon doesn't count for crap). I do see that they obviously both have blonde hair (at least in that depiction of Link.. although it's just some creepy fangirl's wet dream of Link)... But then again, Zebes did not explode, placing the Vega/Link cross-over out of the timeline. Fa shizzle.
