what would make a good zelda MMORPG?

1.It must have Black Mages or Black Mage-esqe classes.(due to the fact that BM is the most awsome rpg class)
2. I't must not suck.

Yes, good games usually don't suck. And... I'm hesitant about just copying other classes and MMORPG cliches just because they were good in those particular games. I'm not saying a BM class is bad, but it's almost like saying "You know what we need? Hit points."

We were talking a little about that in a previous thread, actually. I think Zelda does have a rich enough backstory to make an MMORPG, but what is it going to be about? Ganon took over the world again, I suppose, and then the various races produce various warriors/mages/whatever to survive. Maybe Zelda gets kidnapped again. Maybe there are pieces of the Triforce out there, and something has to be done about that.

I metioned that the problem is that in all Zelda games, Link does all of the work. Everyone else just... doesn't really do anything. How would Link play a part in a Zelda MMO? How would you win, or would you never win? What I never liked about the MMORPG setting is that there is no 'beating the game', and then you're the Hero of Time. It's just: me and some strangers beat up some tekite... and we're going to do it again when it respawns.

What would make a good Zelda morepig? Pretty much nothing.

This is cool im loving the feedback... except for the cross breeding part.. im working on a 2D MMO based on zelda..the reason for this is all the zelda MMO clones ive planed is very poor quality stuff or its never completed.. some say the closest thing is graall but ive played it and its just a hack and slash game not a zelda game plus they charge money for such an outdated game , I will keep mines free... But its best to ask gamers whats good before I get into coding so I know whats is excpected to be delivered

Ace Mercury has a good point, the gameplay will stick to zelda like *im the only hero * sorta thing, everyone will be doing the same thing except a friend or another player can put his journey on hold to help another... also once a full mission based online game play is done ill make some co-op maps like 4 swords, or co-op may be needed to open certain areas or bosses to unlock new weapons or items

I know of one but have never played it myself. Go to nintendoland.com, and Zelda:Grand Adventures. Find the link that says Zelda Online.

I've always like how Link has such divers equipement but some of it is under uesed, Like the Cape from AlttP it's really only needed a few times after that it just kinda sits in your item inventory taking up space.

A good zelda mmorpg would go like this:

Get to pick which race

Human
Goron
Zora
Deku
Kokiri
Sheikah

Then you get to create your character after picking the race. then you go around Hyrule and Terminia killing monsters and defeating bosses adventuring Hyrule and terminia with freinds. Getting new sheilds and rare swords and items. that would be a good zelda Mmorpg

Okay, that's almost coherent.

I agree that depending on franchises is a sign of creativity breakdown, but re-using a franchise is not necessarily bad. It's just that when I hear people who want a Zelda game or a GTA game, but in a different genre, they don't take into account that you can always make a good idea into a bad game.
