I can't decide. (Long winded, ML-esque opinionated reviews coming up) LoZ, I'm sad to say, I still haven't beaten, but I'm still trying for it. I do love it though, and parts of it are really challenging (hence, why I haven't beaten it yet). LttP Took everything about the original and totally upped it. I adore the levels in LttP, some that'll take you a day or two to finally figure out a puzzle (Level 5 in the dark world, for instance--it took me at least that long to find out you were supposed to drop that block one floor down). The storyline was fun, and I love the Dark World-Light World conflicts and similarities, which makes me pretty excited for TP because it seems like it'll be the same thing idea. AoL is fun as hell, but soooo hard. I really need to set my mind to beating that game someday, so I can have a fair opinion. Farthest I've gotten is level...4, and I hear that the worst is yet to come. Link's Awakening is a lot like LttP in the way that everything good about the Zelda series just shines. This game is the pioneer in the trading games, which have become a staple in Video Games to this day. The levels are fun and challenging, but not impossible (Level 7--takes a long time, but you never get tired of throwing that huge ball at the pillars). Some of my great childhood memories come from playing LA on the Super Game Boy, with me, my brother, and my sisters all yelling at the TV screen--"GO RIGHT! PICK THAT THING UP! GET THAT! THAT LOOKS COOL!" etc. OoT created a gameplay system that can't possibly be improved upon, and I'm happy that Ninty still hasn't changed it in any of the 3D games, and it even will keep to it in Twilight Princess. The levels were original, and I'm a sucker for Time Travel, which this game did a very good job of. Great storyline, great gameplay, great levels (I still hold the Fire, Forest, and Shadow temples as some of my favorite levels in any game), great game. OoT also has one of the coolest boss intros ever, which of course is King Dodongo. MM took everything that was good about OoT and added the element of the fact that you have a limited amount of time, which I thought was fun and enjoyable. When you get absorbed by the NPC elements of the game and end up doing 3-day sidequests for Anju and Kafei and the like, you get really depressed when you reset it through time (I'll still do that whole sidequest right before I beat the game, every time). Sadly, the levels weren't as good as OoT, but they were original (Snowhead and Stone Temple are awesome, but the other two are mostly tedious and boring). Continuing on the 3D games, Wind Waker's levels were fun and it had fun sidequests, but sailing was a total bitch. Sailing put me off from most of that game. Tedious and stupid. Even when you got the Cyclone Song, you still had to sail to places. I still like the game, but it'd be so much better if Nintendo hadn't taken that shortcut. OoA and OoS arevery fun when put together, but only all right when taken apart. I wasn't a fan of the storyline, and the Time Travel in Ages was mostly annoying in stead of fun. I like Seasons better because of...well, the seasons, and the fact that it gave us one of my favorite Zelda creatures (that I hope will make a 3-D appearance someday)--The Subrosians. Minish cap was...meh. I like the small world, but the talking hat really pissed me off for most of the game. Four Swords Adventure is a fun, fun game. My brother holds it as "One of the best college dorm games ever." Sadly, I've only played 2-player, but someday I really want to play through the whole thing as a foursome. That's it for now. Given those explinations, I'd probably say it's a mass tie between LttP, OoT, MM, and Link's Awakening. I'll also get back to this when I beat AoL and LoZ all the way. Mmmkay? Mmmkay. |
