| Song 2 : Whoo Hoo | Last night I started a new game. I rushed through the Deku Tree and beat the boss in literally less than 20 seconds. Maybe I've just played it too many times. |

I didn't think it was extremely easy the first time I played through it. I literally spend days figuring out the Forest and the Water temple. And those were days in my Christmas break when I spend alsmot every waking hour playing the game. I eventually asked a friend how to get through the last part of the Forest Temple (I had no idea you could push the room around), but I solved the Water Temple myself ![]() Some of the boss battles were pretty tough at first, especially Volvagia. I think I died 15 times the first time I played through it (in total, not just against Volvagia). I would say that apart from the NES games it's not really much easier or harder than any other Zelda game. |

I do remember having issues with the Water Temple boss (and I always hate doing the Water Temple), whatever it was called. I thought the Light Arrows were necessary? There was no way to make Ganondorf vulernerable was to shoot him with one? Though if when you say Ganon you mean his transformation, yes, the Light Arrows aren't needed. If Ocarina of Time has gotten to the point where you could play it blindfolded, try Alundra for the PSX. The only thing I wish that game had was a better sense of depth perception. But the bosses aren't bad (there's some real annoyances, though. Zorgia and Melzas's dragon take forever to kill. And Melzas's first form is so pathetic, the second time I fought it [because his second form kicked my ass] I didn't get hit once), and the puzzles are great (I swear, that pillar sliding puzzle to get the Ice Wand took me over an hour to solve, and the fact I did it without an FAQ makes me feel damn great about myself). ![]() Where are these lemmings going? The Super Nintendo Super Shire! Hop in line and follow them there! |

Honestly, it's just that gamers have been overexposed to that basic form of puzzles - especially in the recent Zelda series. |

| Marshmallow Knight ☆ Supermod | I think it's case the first time, it's more interesting. You have to identify the weak spot (not too hard, most of the time), analyze its patterns, and attack the weak point (for massive damage). Maybe you're even a bit sketchy on the controls, so you don't whip out your slingshot when she climbs on the ceiling. On further playthroughs, it's just memory work. In fact, you can abuse your knowledge of the game and use Deku sticks and jump attacks for double/quadruple damage. The same sort of thing happens with other games, most notable in my mind Shadow of the Colossus, mainly because it's all about the boss fights. Quote:

| Song 2 : Whoo Hoo | In reply to earlier posts, yes, I beat the boss in 20 seconds, not the whole temple. Even upon my many multiple restarts of that game, I don't think I ever beat the first level boss anywhere near that quickly. Shot her in the eye, started slashing, she climbed to the cieling, shot her in the eye again, started slashing a second time, then all of the sudden... bam! She's dead! |

I read Navi's advice on how to kill the thing- something about being vulnerable when her eyes are red- and I figured that meant attacking with the sword. Unfortunately, that does nothing to Ghoma and usually results in some damage to Link. It's sort of hard to believe, in retrospect, that it took me that long to figure the actual way out. But I was new to the series, and I didn't know the rule, "Any weapon found in a dungeon will be necessary against that dungeon's boss." I generally find that in any of the 3D Zelda games, once you get a decent number of heart containers, dying only happens when you get seriously careless or don't know how to beat a boss. |

Ocarina is most certainly no exception. |

The only thing I found hard in that game was trying to find all the Heart Containers and Golden Skulltullas. But even so, it's an awesome game. I loved the part where you have to escape Ganon's Castle as it's falling apart. |

Otherwise I'll be forced to bother you over at Zeldablog. ![]() ![]() |
