Clearly, this displays Nintendo's superiority to all other developers who fail to deliver what the gamers truly demand: Red-hot monster nipples. |

By the way, looks like the crossdresser on the right is named "Tobi". The left one is "Ukka", but it's in hiragana, which is strange because "Tobi" is in katakana. That Twilight demon looks like a cross between an Alien and a Predator. ![]() Where are these lemmings going? The Super Nintendo Super Shire! Hop in line and follow them there! |

Hiragana is used for true Japanese words (saru for monkey, fune for writing brush), while katakana is used for writing words of foreign origin (nekutai for neck tie, pan for bread) and foreign names (Biru for Bill). They each have other uses (particles, "italics"), but that's the gist of it. There's a third writing form, and that's Kanji. While hiragana and katakana are syllables (similar to our alphabet, except the characters are for syllables. "Saru" in Japanese is only two characters; Sa-Ru), Kanji is a little picture, and by far the hardest thing about learning Japanese (I think there's 50,000 total, but "only" about 3,000 are used very often. And not only do you need to memorize what the pictures mean, they can have several ways of reading them, depending on if it's a single Kanji or several Kanji grouped together to mean one thing). The writing pointing to the fire demon is mostly Kanji. The very, very last character looks like "kaze", or "wind", but it's so squished I'm not 100% on that (plus, it could very well have the second reading, which I think is "fu"). ![]() Where are these lemmings going?
