I still hate Capcom for not releasing Mega Man Anniversary Collection in Europe.

Psh, they still haven't released the GBA one.

You mean the remixed music they pulled from the game? After how poorly it was done in the original and didn't even give the option to turn it off and let me listen to the original music?

Been hospitalized for 3 weeks now. I've been browsing, but I made a thread in the Mod Forum just for people to chat with me, since it's pretty boring here.

The way I figure, I was on the fence on which version to get from the get go. This just decides the question for me. So I'm not upset.

The only thing I'm even remotely upset about is the price of the controllers.

Actually Ck, they also retranslated several of the games to fix mistakes, uncensored the whole series, added the psx cutscenes into X3, remapped a few of Zero's moves in the later games to make them easier to use, redid the voice acting in several of the games and added english voice acting to the later few that never got it because of the rushed translation jobs. The remixed music I didn't really care about. All of those things were actually finished and in the collection before they decided to remove it all. And all becuase they were afraid it my compete with the remakes they were putting out on the PSP. That's why I was angry.

Yeah, the Wii controllers are a bit too pricey. I was afraid that would be a problem since the technology is kinda new. Maybe some cheaper 3rd party ones will be an option.

When you get down to the wire, it's simply a very good marketing move by Nintendo. All the super-ultra-diehard-gotta-have-it-on-day-one Zelda fanatics now face a choice between getting a Wii or waiting three weeks while hundreds of thousands of people play and beat Twilight Princess in the interim. Much as you might not like it, the move is nothing short of genius.
I would buy the wii and Zelda TP all in the first day but I sorta got parents who are stopping me.

These things I actually would have liked (especially since X6's translation is so awful I don't even know what the hell is going on, but the actual game is so awful part of me doesn't even care), but I'm not going to swear off Capcom for it.

Those weren't even removed. Actually, I think they used the PSX version of the entire game rather than the SNES version with the cutscenes since the sound is different.

I'm hard pressed to care about changes to Zero. I doubt the voice acting changes would've been for the better since we all know how Capcom is in that area (although I did find it quite odd that they removed X6's Japanese voice acting).

I didn't know about this stuff until now, thus had no high hopes to have crash and it's hard for me to take this personally. They left in the art galleries, and that's enough to make me happy.

But you're not swearing off Nintendo for delaying the GCN Twilight Princess so as not to compete with the Wii.

You really think the motion sensor technology could be easily and reliably replicated by third party developers?

Nintendo isn't delaying the game so that they can strip it down to bare bones, nor did they leave the removed features listed on the back of the box (okay just the remixes, but still, how is that legal?) Don't get me wrong, they're still screwing over their fans, but there is a difference in the sheer level of it. The day any company makes me wait longer so that they can disable their own product is the day I quit buying their stuff.

That's a pretty sketchy move, but those of us in Australia have to wait longer for either release, anyway. Nintendo and every other decent gaming company (PC industry aside) have always gone to great lengths to get that extra buck out of gamers. A move like this comes as no surprise to me, it only proves that little has changed.

I just remembered something, and double checked it to make sure; unless you're giving me more reason to be happy I chose the PS2 version, X says "Damn" after he gets his ass kicked by Vile at the beginning of the first game on Collection, which wasn't in the SNES version. There was something else I noted, and I think it was that they fixed the "a anti-Sigma virus program" from X3 (could be because they used the PSX version and they fixed it there), but in order to check that I'd have to play through all the Doppler stages, a thought that doesn't thrill me right now.

And seriously, if there was anything censored from the PSX games (especially when X4 has all that blood and Zero saying "damn" a lot), it's stuff that would've resulted in a lot more than you boycotting them if they had left it in (Fun Fact: The Japanese version of Symphony of the Night has crucified Jesuses on the Cross item's spell).

I'm sure it's a far cry from what you were expecting, but some decensorship, giving North America the PSX version of X3, and an art gallery that doesn't just contain random pictures but prototypes of the characters is far from "bare bones".

Well, let's break it down:

1. $250 -- As I said to a coworker, "No matter what, I will be getting a Wii on Day One; it's all a matter of how much I'll be grumbling when I do it." I didn't think Nintendo would set the price point at $250. In fact, I worry that, WHEN Microsoft price drops $50 (not if), it'll put Nintendo into the spotlight as M$ says, "Hey! We [el cheapo 360] cost the same as the Wii. And we have HD!" I think it's a bad decision. I believe that it would have been better if Nintendo packaged Wii Sports and put it on the shelf rather than bundle it (even though I can see the rationale of why they're not doing that). However, this is something that I'm willing to buy.

2. GCN Twilight, Dec. 11 -- The only reason why I would be upset with this is a very esoteric reason that would only affect a very few people. Namely, I have to maintain order over at ZeldaBlog, and doing so requires me to read topics with potential spoilers in them, and waiting until 11 December makes that job impossible. Knowing that other people will be rabidly devouring Twilight while I would not be would be frustrating. But guess what; we've always been in this situation to begin with; Japan has gotten every Zelda game months if not a full year ahead of us. And it's not like we're wholly getting shafted. As I said, I'm buying a Wii, and the delay of the GCN version makes the decision for me that I preorder the Wii version instead. And all is well in the TMLverse.

3. Wii Zelda Controls -- Haven't tested them. Would like to try them. But I cannot complain about something I haven't tried.

4. $60 Controllers -- I keep seeing the equation "4-player madness = $180" flash into my head and make me woozy... plus the fact that I have to buy a Virtual Console controller in addition to that, making the total $200. That's about as expensive as the console (sans Wii Sports) itself! Granted, I understand that these are über-controllers, not just ANY old piece of plastic and silicon. Still, I'm not looking forward to that purchase.

If I were some kind of crazy person/Nintendo loyalist, I'd be positively foaming at the mouth right about now. (Like the pun? Me too. You're welcome.)

1. Lack of power
There's no getting around this one--the Wii is the gimp this time around. I give it a year tops before we start seeing things on the other platforms that just couldn't be done with the Wii's technology. Ports from the 360 and PS3 aren't going to be possible without major reductions in visual quality, and I'm inclined to doubt that every developer will even bother.

2. Questionable third-party support
I've seen the list of third-party developers who are 'excited' about the Wii, and, frankly, I'm not impressed. There was a similar list floating around when the GCN's launch was imminent, and it didn't turn out so great. Most of them offered only token support, releasing one or two games on the GCN for every dozen they put out for the competition. Plenty of launch titles doesn't equal substantial support two or three years down the road, when the bare patches start to show up.

3. Stupid controls
I don't like the idea of motion-sensitivity in my games. I move around when I'm playing games; I don't like the idea of having to pause whenever I'm getting a drink or throwing something at the cat just because the console might interpret my hand movements as indicating that I would very much like my avatar to shoot rockets at the school bus I'm escorting.

There's more, but, as I see it, those are the Wii's most obvious flaws. Granted, I don't do as much multiplayer gaming as I used to, so the price of additional controllers is bound to bother me less than it would those of you who aren't (or, in TML's case, want to pretend they aren't) hideous social cripples. I also don't see the problem with the higher-than-hoped-for price point; I didn't want one anyway, so a higher price doesn't make me want one less. The delay for 'Twilight Princess' similarly doesn't bother me for the simple reason that, not being a Nintendo-only loon, I have other things to play between now and then (I haven't even begun 'Okami' yet).

It's not just the controller misinterpreting you for the controls. Before I had a DS, I theorized the attitude with making games for it was going to be "Because you can touch to play games, it's so much more IMMERISIVE and FUN than any game that uses standard controls. Wait, what? You want level design? And structure? And challenge? Dude, you're stupid. Isn't being able to scribble stuff on the screen FUN ENOUGH FOR YOU? DON'T YOU LIKE FUN?"

When I actually got a DS, I found that, yeah, I was dead on.

[EDIT: I put "What, what?" when I meant to put "Wait, what?"]

Codie's bitter.

It's worth noting that no multiplayer game shown for the Wii so far requires the nunchuck attachment, so you're looking at forty bucks a pop for an extra controller, which isn't any more outrageous than the 360
