This just decides the question for me. So I'm not upset. The only thing I'm even remotely upset about is the price of the controllers. |

The remixed music I didn't really care about. All of those things were actually finished and in the collection before they decided to remove it all. And all becuase they were afraid it my compete with the remakes they were putting out on the PSP. That's why I was angry. Yeah, the Wii controllers are a bit too pricey. I was afraid that would be a problem since the technology is kinda new. Maybe some cheaper 3rd party ones will be an option. ![]() |

I didn't know about this stuff until now, thus had no high hopes to have crash and it's hard for me to take this personally. They left in the art galleries, and that's enough to make me happy. Quote:

Don't get me wrong, they're still screwing over their fans, but there is a difference in the sheer level of it. The day any company makes me wait longer so that they can disable their own product is the day I quit buying their stuff. |

Nintendo and every other decent gaming company (PC industry aside) have always gone to great lengths to get that extra buck out of gamers. A move like this comes as no surprise to me, it only proves that little has changed. |

And seriously, if there was anything censored from the PSX games (especially when X4 has all that blood and Zero saying "damn" a lot), it's stuff that would've resulted in a lot more than you boycotting them if they had left it in (Fun Fact: The Japanese version of Symphony of the Night has crucified Jesuses on the Cross item's spell). I'm sure it's a far cry from what you were expecting, but some decensorship, giving North America the PSX version of X3, and an art gallery that doesn't just contain random pictures but prototypes of the characters is far from "bare bones". ![]() Where are these lemmings going? 1. $250 -- As I said to a coworker, "No matter what, I will be getting a Wii on Day One; it's all a matter of how much I'll be grumbling when I do it." I didn't think Nintendo would set the price point at $250. In fact, I worry that, WHEN Microsoft price drops $50 (not if), it'll put Nintendo into the spotlight as M$ says, "Hey! We [el cheapo 360] cost the same as the Wii. And we have HD!" I think it's a bad decision. I believe that it would have been better if Nintendo packaged Wii Sports and put it on the shelf rather than bundle it (even though I can see the rationale of why they're not doing that). However, this is something that I'm willing to buy. 2. GCN Twilight, Dec. 11 -- The only reason why I would be upset with this is a very esoteric reason that would only affect a very few people. Namely, I have to maintain order over at ZeldaBlog, and doing so requires me to read topics with potential spoilers in them, and waiting until 11 December makes that job impossible. Knowing that other people will be rabidly devouring Twilight while I would not be would be frustrating. But guess what; we've always been in this situation to begin with; Japan has gotten every Zelda game months if not a full year ahead of us. And it's not like we're wholly getting shafted. As I said, I'm buying a Wii, and the delay of the GCN version makes the decision for me that I preorder the Wii version instead. And all is well in the TMLverse. 3. Wii Zelda Controls -- Haven't tested them. Would like to try them. But I cannot complain about something I haven't tried. 4. $60 Controllers -- I keep seeing the equation "4-player madness = $180" flash into my head and make me woozy... plus the fact that I have to buy a Virtual Console controller in addition to that, making the total $200. That's about as expensive as the console (sans Wii Sports) itself! Granted, I understand that these are über-controllers, not just ANY old piece of plastic and silicon. Still, I'm not looking forward to that purchase. | |

(Like the pun? Me too. You're welcome.) 1. Lack of power There's no getting around this one--the Wii is the gimp this time around. I give it a year tops before we start seeing things on the other platforms that just couldn't be done with the Wii's technology. Ports from the 360 and PS3 aren't going to be possible without major reductions in visual quality, and I'm inclined to doubt that every developer will even bother. 2. Questionable third-party support I've seen the list of third-party developers who are 'excited' about the Wii, and, frankly, I'm not impressed. There was a similar list floating around when the GCN's launch was imminent, and it didn't turn out so great. Most of them offered only token support, releasing one or two games on the GCN for every dozen they put out for the competition. Plenty of launch titles doesn't equal substantial support two or three years down the road, when the bare patches start to show up. 3. Stupid controls I don't like the idea of motion-sensitivity in my games. I move around when I'm playing games; I don't like the idea of having to pause whenever I'm getting a drink or throwing something at the cat just because the console might interpret my hand movements as indicating that I would very much like my avatar to shoot rockets at the school bus I'm escorting. There's more, but, as I see it, those are the Wii's most obvious flaws. Granted, I don't do as much multiplayer gaming as I used to, so the price of additional controllers is bound to bother me less than it would those of you who aren't (or, in TML's case, want to pretend they aren't) hideous social cripples. I also don't see the problem with the higher-than-hoped-for price point; I didn't want one anyway, so a higher price doesn't make me want one less. The delay for 'Twilight Princess' similarly doesn't bother me for the simple reason that, not being a Nintendo-only loon, I have other things to play between now and then (I haven't even begun 'Okami' yet). __________________ Boo--the only dude bad enough to rescue the president Last edited by Booyakasha; 09-24-2006 at 07:50 PM. |

Before I had a DS, I theorized the attitude with making games for it was going to be "Because you can touch to play games, it's so much more IMMERISIVE and FUN than any game that uses standard controls. Wait, what? You want level design? And structure? And challenge? Dude, you're stupid. Isn't being able to scribble stuff on the screen FUN ENOUGH FOR YOU? DON'T YOU LIKE FUN?" When I actually got a DS, I found that, yeah, I was dead on. [EDIT: I put "What, what?" when I meant to put "Wait, what?"] ![]() Where are these lemmings going? The Super Nintendo Super Shire! It's worth noting that no multiplayer game shown for the Wii so far requires the nunchuck attachment, so you're looking at forty bucks a pop for an extra controller, which isn't any more outrageous than the 360 |
