| VGF's Resident Lennonist | Favorite Zelda Memories? Alright, now I may not post in this forum as much as some other people, but deep down inside, I'm a hardcore Zelda fan. Sure I've played other video games... but none have ever been able to grip me the way Zelda has. Although Zelda is technically a single player game, I always end up playing it with a friend, or sometimes a group of friends. Back when me and my friends used to have sleepovers and stuff, we would always stay up late into the night - 3, 4 in the morning - playing video games, and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past was always a favorite of ours. I just remember everyone chiming in, like, "Hey! Hand me the controller, I know what to do," or "put the bomb there... no not there, there!" And of course, who could forget, "if all else fails, use fire." I remember one particular time at my cousin's house, we were up late laughing until my aunt came barging in, whisper-yelling at us for making so much noise. It's hard to believe that this was ten years ago... I remember the day Ocarina of Time came out. I had reserved my copy two months early, and when the day came, the kid who was my best friend at the time came over to my house and we waited for my mom to come home. Since it was the last day before Thanksgiving break (I was in fifth grade at the time), he was able to stay way past when he would normally have to go home. My mom was going to go to Best Buy as soon as she got off of work, so we were just doing anything to keep ourselves busy. I think we ended up watching the X Files movie with my sister, who also couldn't wait to play Zelda. When my mom came, we all ran to the door and snatched the box out of my mom's hand as quickly as possible. Then we argued over who got to play first, eventually deciding that since I payed for it, I got to play first (I do not remember at all how I got the money... probably from my Birthday or my savings account). For most of the rest of the school year, we would hang out at his house after school pretty much every day, either playing OoT or GoldenEye. Any time a new Zelda game comes out, I feel like that little elementary school aged kid again - waiting in anticipation for all the puzzles, items, bosses, and stories the new game will bring into my life for the next few months (or now that I've gotten better at games, few weeks). So anyways, what are your favorite Zelda memories? |
