There is also Geist, which I'd be picking up if I wasn't planning on getting Advance Wars DS.

The game will NOT be on the Revolution. I would, in a heartbeat, bet my golf clubs on that fact. It would take forever and a day to port the game to the Revolution, and that's besides all the fixes they have to make on it.

Let us not forget, that it still may come out when the Revolution comes out. (Some games do this.) However, do note that the Revolution will play GameCube games, so it could be a "pseudo-launch title".

</font>[/quote]Yeah, for example, in this situation:

Someone's mom: Kids, what system do you want?

Kids: Revolution. We can get the SSBR game, and the new Zelda game as well.

Someone's mom: But the Zelda game is GCN game...

Kids: Yeah, but the Revoution is back-wards compatiable.
-------

Okay, dumb example but that CAN happen.

LayFate: Like TML said, making it a REvolution game NOW would probaly cause more delay for obvious reasons.

Actually, when the GBA came out... a lot of people bought it and the Oracles games for it, despite it being a GBC game.

^^I doubt that would be a real conversation. Moms do not know what they are talking about when it comes to games.

I might get a copy of Geist, but probably only after the price drops. I'll be spending some money on those 10 dollar used Metroid Prime discs I've seen, thanks much. There might not be anything on the GCN, but there's nothing on any of the other systems, either.

According to GameFAQs (who have had issues with release dates before) the European release is still in Nov of this year! although the US is scheduled for Second Q of 06 and the Jap release is still listed as TBA

Don't get your hopes up in Europe. It'll be 2006, I guarantee.

Judging from the large amount of hype TP is getting, Nintendo can pretty much release it whenever, and it will still sell a ton. It has had a pretty place as #1 most wanted in EGM since it was unveiled.

I think the "This is a Gamecube game, but you can also consider it a lauch title for Revolution" ploy will be easy for Nintendo to exploit.

I don't buy it. Releasing it in November would mean huge Christmas sales. Besides which, an April release might conceivably put it in competition with PS3 and Halo 3, which I've heard (WARNING!! POSSIBLE UNSUBSTANTIATED INFORMATION!!) are launching in mid-Spring. If it's a marketing ploy, it's an awfully stupid one.

Production delays do not directly translate to cash. Chances are OoT would have been a half-finished piece of trash if it came out at its original announced date. I don't know why developers don't just assume a more Blizzard-like stance, anyway. It's done when it's done, not just because some exec needs pocket money now.

I don't think the number of copies sold will be vastly different no matter when it's released. I do think it would do better, however, in November, for two reasons: (1) massive hysteria in buying around the Christmas season, and (2) the 360 and PS3 won't have a foothold in the market yet.

Rare are also notorious for never giving release dates unless the product is finished. There's also notorious for their delays, though.

They finally released Conker not too long ago. They're still working on Kameo and Perfect Dark 0 and they announced that they will develop for DS.

Let's compare:

Rare under Nintendo (N64/GCN titles only) (1998-2002)
Killer Instinct Gold
Blast Corps
GoldenEye 007
Diddy Kong Racing
Banjo-Kazooie
Jet Force Gemini
Donkey Kong 64
Perfect Dark
Mickey's Speedway USA
Banjo-Tooie
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Star Fox Adventures

Not to mention countless others on the GB* systems

Rare under Microsoft (2002-2005)
Grabbed by the Ghoulies
Conker: Live & Reloaded

Let's take a quick count here. Rare release 12 games for Nintendo over 5 years. They've only released 2 in 4 years for Microsoft. Rare has done more development for the GBA portables SINCE they stopped development for the Nintendo console line than they have the XBox (6 games for the GBA versus 2 for the XBox). Out of the games produced, at least eight of twelve are considered pretty well known. Only one of two on the XBox, and that one is at least 50% a direct port.

I could go further on why I really don't care about Rare's stuff these days, but I think it'd be overkill.

I still really like Rare, although their output is very dissapointing nowadays. I still check their website regularly; the Q and A page is hilarious.
