| Zelda Join Date: Jun 2000 Location: All over the place Gender: Posts: 12,388 Thanks: 87 Thanked 469 Times in 281 Posts | Bosses in the Zelda series Ladies and gents, this is a topic wherein we talk about the menaces, monsters, and mayhem-mongers who perpetually plague our boy Link and our girl Zelda. This is not limited to Ganondorf and other game-centric villains, though: the series is full of them, from Twinrova to Shadow Link to Gomez. All are free game. So, you know, get discussing. I will start. I like it when bosses in dungeons have some kind of narrative tie to the area they're in: I don't mean like the Yeti's wife in Twilight Princess, either. I mean like King Yigorse from the Ikana Ruins in Majora's Mask: he stands as a character as much as a boss, whose presence is more memorable than the fight with him. It is like you are facing off with all the corruption in that dead, ghostly place, and he only sets the tone for the overarching conflict that you are working your way towards. Another really cool boss is Shadow/Dark Link. Just because he is what he is. Please post your thoughts. Any particular battles that stand out? Designs that just impressed you? Any of them that outright sucked? Tell the rest of us about them. |

SilverWind made it for me a few hours ago in the space of about two minutes. She's a wiz at this stuff. So, ZG: bosses in the series. Who do you like? Why? Who do you hate? Inquiring minds want to know. From all of you. |

He/She/It was so damn annoying - hookshotting the nucleus, then trying to slash at it. And the whole thing about it grabbing me and throwing me into the spikes in the wall... ![]() And Shadow/Dark Link, while very cool as a villain, was a pain in the arse. Seriously, I hated fighting him. I tend to just write-off the water temple in general. ![]() |

Still, water bosses tend to be among my favorite in the series. Gyorg was great because it was like fighting a shark, and Morpheel (eel from Twilight Princess) was probably the coolest fight in the whole game. I just like water battles in general, though. I can't tell if it's an intrinsic part of their design or not, but something about them tends to be appealing, if only that they have a heightened sense of tension for me because I have a very mild fear of deep water. |

For me, I think fighting pretty much ANYTHING in the Shadow Temple was terrifying for me - seriously, that temple scared the bejeezes out of me. I'm not a big fan of horror or gore - I was so jumpy during that temple. I'm trying to think I fights I particularly liked. Honestly, it's been AGES since I've played a Zelda title - I haven't even played TP yet, due to poor time, having 2 brothers who hog the Wii, and school. ![]() |

Nonetheless, the fight was quite awesome. |

Morpheel rawked too... most of the TP bosses were really fun. Evil bosses... Gyorg. I HATE that guy. I beat him in the last three hours of the final night... |

I find it to be funny and annoying at the same time. |

That was too quick... and to think that I jumped out of my skin the first time I went to the Shadow Temple and was nearly PETRIFIED when I was dealing with the "Stone Umbrella" part of the temple... ![]() My fav boss? Volvagia in OoT, mostly because of the Music that came with them, or maybe because I like fire more in a Boss Battle. Fire sets a good tone for a battle IMO. I hate the Twinrova battle, only because I thought it was BORING. |

Bosses I hate? Uh... Bongo Bongo. Despite watching that video and all, the very IDEA of the Shadow Temple freaks me out, as does the boss. Man I hate that guy... more because he's CREEPY than his difficulty as a boss. |

I thought he was a very cool boss - swimming around with the shield on was one of the coolest things you could do, and ramming him with it did five metric tonnes of damage. Anybody wanna share on what they did or didn't like about him? |

I think there's been times where it's never touched me. Still a tedious boss, though. As for bosses I like...well, there was that kickass Stallord battle in TP. Also, LttP's final boss is memorable in my eyes. The Majora battle is actually pretty hard, if you don't use that FD Mask. Otherwise, it's easy. |

The battle was hard and I didn't use the platform. I stayed IN the water with the zora-eating fish with NO defense. I died a lot. |

As far as I can think of right now, there really wasn't too many boss battles that I actually disliked. It's much easier for me to come up with a list of booses that I thought were amazing: King Dodongo, Phantom Ganon, Puppet Ganon, Morpheel, Stallord, and Argorok. If only I could remember the bosses in LttP and MC. | |
