Zelda: Link's Awakening Recreated

Zelda: Links Awakening - RPG RPG Revolution

They used the same engine I am using except they used different scripts to create Zelda. I think it's a little bit of a shame he didn't create an original game with these scripts as it probably would have been much more of a bigger hit.

I have an incomplete abandoned version that he made on rm2k3 a while back. He'd released it as a demo because he'd only completed it up through the first dungeon. Looking through the maps though, it looked like he'd nearly finished the second dungeon too, before abandoning it to work on a better program.

Nice to see he actually finished it. From what I saw in the old version the guy that made this is absolutely incredible. He made extremly complex systems for everything. The amount of work put into even the smallest thing was mindblowing.

Simply put, I can vouch for this thing's quality. It's some of the more amazing work I've ever seen done on a custom program like thing.

Edit: well that's just unfortunate. After downloading it, I can see this version doesn't have all the little details in it. I can't really blame him, because it's still increadible, but this actually has a few bugs in it that didn't exist in the demo I played. How very strange..

^I don't really see any bugs in this. But for someone to make a game like this on RM2k3 is amazing...especially since you don't have the custom scripts from XP or VX.

^It's basically showing that someone was trying to recreate Zelda: Link's Awakening on RPG Maker 2003. The shocking thing was that he was able to rewrite the core engine to make it play exactly like Link's Awakening. It shows that this guy put a lot of effort, and after playing it for a while I notice it is incomplete but still it is amazing. It's also in this forum because it's Zelda related. That's the point of this topic Kargath.

It's still really impressive, but it helps if you know the kind of work needed to go into this sort of thing.

I was trying to make the point that if he was going to go to all this effort, why not make an original game?

It's... impressive to manipulate an engine in that fashion, but I'm with Kargath on this- why go to all that effort just to replicate another game? 0_0

Usually it's E-fame. Which is, sadly, a hilarious answer.

That's what I said, and that's what the review says as well. He's obviously a talented programmer, so why not make an original game and try selling it? Regardless, what he has done is impressive to say the least.
