Nintendo has been talking about zelda quite a lot lately, and they say there thinking about a lot of new ideas, i hope modern-day is one of them. I personally would love to see it happen, make it take place in New York or something. I don't know what they would do with weapons or the story, but I think they should go for it. ![]() |

Not unless we have one of those 'the protagonist fell down a rabbit hole and wound up in Wacky Fantasy-ville where he's suddenly the Chosen One of Legend', which is kind of poor storytelling. You know what I'd like to see from a Zelda game? A game without Link. Say, Hyrule is taken over by the Dark Shadow Lord of Shadowy Darkness, and the hero isn't the Hero of Time, the great champion whose coming has been foretold by prophecy since the days when the lands were few. No, the hero is just some guy. Some guy with a crummy job and a trick shoulder. Some guy who just stands up one day and says, "You know what? Screw King Evil. I'm going straight up to the Fortress of Doom, and I'm going to break a damn chair over his face. See how he likes ruling the land with an iron fist when I'm stomping his head in with me hobnailed boots." Last edited by Booyakasha; 10-15-2008 at 12:07 PM. |

Unless you're hoping for Grand Theft Auto: Zelda Edition. |

The kind of game where Link has to travel back or forward in time to meet up with and aid his decendents from all the other games. Take areas and dungeons/final bosses from several of the games and revamp them with new graphics and engine. |

It says that people have begun using technology, and I think something about less magic. I think that it could be where they use magic and technology together. |

Besides, that wasn't what you think it was. They created magitech by basically stealing the life-force of espers, and they were only really using it to power their technology, primarily war machines. Only game I've played where traditional fantasy with magic lifted out of its original setting made sense was in Chrono Trigger, where they'd actually traveled into the future and the future society wasn't magic-based at all. If you want to play up the whole Hero of Time thing from Ocarina, you might be able to do it.

CT wasn't the only game for magic and technology to go together well. Secret of Evermore did it well enough and kinda played with the same time periods idea.

One of the things you guys don't seem to get: Urban Fantasy sales =/= Traditional Fantasy sales. Making big changes like that is likely to alienate fans further from the series, especially if that's the direction you're taking it. |

You have to take things like that into consideration during the creation. That's why you ease them into the new game via story, gameplay or even both. Oh, and whaddya mean SoE was dodgy? If you mean it like "iffy" then, yeah, I agree but it did work out well enough. |
