Twilight Princess question...

So yea, I finally got a Wii for christmas, and I just wanted to hear some opinions on whether or not I should buy the Gamecube or the Wii version of Twilight Princess... (Yeah, I have yet to play it...) I've heard the controls on the Wii can get annoying and I've been advised to get the Gamecube version, but we carry the Wii version at my work, and it just seems so much more convenient to buy it there. Or does it really not matter at all?

The only control issue I had with the Wii version was that the Spin Attack had about a .5 second delay. It's not really much of a problem until very late in the game, though.

Anyway, it's much harder to do the BIT and BITE glitches in the GC version!

I'd go with the Wii version. IMO, if you complain about the Wii controls, you're just a stickler. I thought the controls were very nice, and wanted to go back and play OoT with the new control scheme.

Plus, you got your Wii. Why not use it?

No competition. I've played both, and can safely say I'm glad I have the Wii verson. Oh, and I've had no problems with the Wiimote. (Except the batteries dying during a boss battle.)

Wii version, definitely. People might say it's identical, but the anti-aliasing and other texture filters are superior. On top of that, I felt the controls added to the game very nicely and weren't obtrusive in the least. And no, you don't have to swing the controller absurdly hard if you don't feel like it.

Agreed. Wii version hands down. I never had a single problem with the controls, and felt that they made the game better, even. As AI said, you really only have to flick your wrist to get Link to slash, and pretty much every action is easy to pull off after about 10 minutes of getting used to it (if you're new to the Wii).

I also like the Wii's item-usage--the B trigger was nice, with the D-Pad switch. It's confusing at first, but once you got used to it, it was great. Did they do that in the GCN version?

I know it's nitpicky but I enjoyed the GCN version more because they didn't have to mirror the entire map just to get Link right-handed.

also i only had a GCN at the time so

^I actually agree with Chunky on this one. Link is a lefty and the GCN version was the version that was more "pure" by Link standards. -CSM

It's true, the GCN version is more "canonical." And everything lines up with the OoT map pretty nicely (The Desert, Zora's Domain, Kakariko Village and Death Mountain). But I mean, Link doesn't have to be a lefty. And I just accept that I'm playing the game "backwards" and move on.

I actually like that it's flipped. Sure, it makes no sense whatsoever if you're creating timelines, but it does make it feel like you're playing on a new map if you don't think about it. (New maps > Repeated Maps)

I also thought that the controls made some actions and side games more fun (shooting things with the bow, fishing), and that it was generally an improvement over the GCN version. (like I said, the spin delay was the only issue I had)

Went to the store to pick up a copy today, but they didn't have it. >_< And yeah, I decided on the Wii version.

Wii version, if for only the archery controls. I find them fun for some reason.

Plus, it's just a whole different experience. Tons of fun. :]

If you're going for timelines, you can just remember the fact that the GCN version is the Canonical version.

ML! Have you already forgotten what the noble Dai Grepher taught us?!
It's painfully obvious that the GC version and the Wii version are two different, but highly similar sets of events that happened at different points in Hyrule's history.

Personally I'm a GC fan cause:

1) I like lefty Link

2) GC is the "original" version so to speak much like how I love Ocarina of Time 1.0 over 1.1 and 1.2.

3) I can't afford Wii nor would it be in my best interest.

4) I do like playing via GC Controller versus Wii.

One thing that is neat about the Wii version is the archery, like CL mentioned. Third person archery is sick. Only on the PC was third person archery reasonably possible in the previous zelda games. X.X

Hey now. The Wii's map was particularily faithful to the original Legend of Zelda. :P
