A look at the upcoming Zelda Wii game.

First Look At New Zelda Game’s Concept Art | Kotaku Australia

I thought about where that girl was familiar from - and I finally recognised it as the Faerie Queen from Wind Waker. A 'mature' game set in the drowned world?

The head is from the WW faeries, at least. The rest of it's body looks different.

It wears fishnet stockings, so you know it's been around.

Nice art. Doesn't tell me much, though. I do have to say I'm excited they decided to go with a mature Link.

Maybe it's a new game concept where he fights with his fists.

Hardcore.

I don't have a sword in my hand, but does that mean there are no swords nearby?

It's not a good idea to just leave your sword laying around.

The Fairy thingy might be combat related somehow. That or they just haven't decided what the sword is going to look like.

Or he's going to fight with his shield, like Captain America. Only Captain Hyrule or something.

Maybe it's a moment from the beginning of the game, before he gets his sword. Or maybe it's just supposed to be an awesome-looking poster & not actually capture any specific moment of the game.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

I forgot that the WW Great Fairies had four arms and no legs... This thing definitely doesn't have four arms and clearly has legs. Maybe they're going into fairy stages or something with this one?

Also, did that blue pendant thing come up in another game? Looks familiar.

Maybe this will help.

This is the closest similarity I could find to that fairy. The face is reminiscent of Wind Waker Cel Shading though.

I hope not. The concept sounds pretty lame to me, and I for one am tired of talking swords.

But if Link gets older and starts looking like a grown man, he'll lose all his crazy shrieking fangirls...

Then he'll only appeal to, you know, straight women.

Per the good people at World Zelda Music Radio, I humbly present to you Exhibit B -- http://wzmrradio.com/images/news/speculation.jpg

Miyamoto issued a very telling hint regarding this image: This is in the IGN article, found here -- IGN: E3 2009: What Happened to Link's Sword?

Shigeru Miyamoto: Well, the story setting for this Zelda is, of course, in a completely different era and Link is older than he was previously. More approaching adulthood. There is one hint. Maybe from the art work you can see that he's not holding a sword.

IGN: Has he lost his Master Sword?

Shigeru Miyamoto: [Laughing] I just wanted to make sure that you understand we are making it. That's all I'm going to say on that subject.

At first I dismissed all of this as just being like the Færie Queen from Wind Waker, but then I started to see all of the uncanny coincidences:
  • The stockings are in a criss-cross hash, just like the hilt of the sword.
  • There is a wide, blue belt, which represents the curved blue part of the sword.
  • The head shape is... uncannily similar to the blade.

Were it not for Miyamoto's hint, I would be... extremely sceptical. But given this, it's hard to ignore.
