Thumbs up Zelda Faves

I probably made a topic like this ages ago, but meh.

There are a few topics here and there in this forum, but aside from the one about the new game (THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: THE GIRL IS A SWORD) there isn't much chatting going on about the games THEMSELVES.

(OK, so there are a few threads here and there. Oh well, this forum could use some extra activity.)

And I, loving to rant about games, have decided to give us all an opportunity to yell at each other at how much better our favorite games are than your favorite games. :{D

Share why you love a game so much, have an internal conflict over which game is the best, argue with people for disagreeing with you (because we ALL know that will happen... just try to be civilized yse), and talk about t3h zelda gaemz.

Personally, I really, really liked MM and WW, closely followed by OoT and TP.

MM was awesome, and I loved how the three-day cycle allowed for really specific and realistic schedules for everyone and the crazy character development.

Also hooray for scary Link dancing.

WW was hella awesome, I ADORED the temples where you play as Medli and Makar. Flying them into pits of floormasters is fun. :{3

More to come later, but first other people opinions yse.

My order:
TP
WW
aLttP
MC
FS
FSA
LA
PH
OoT
MM

LoZ, AoL, and OoS/A are not on there because I either haven't played them or haven't played enough of them to get a good idea of what they're like.

EDIT: Forgot PH.

My order:
TP
MM (I'm sure the fanboys are lighting the stake as we speak)
OoT
OoT Master Quest
LA/LADX
LttP
FSA
OoS
WW
OoA
MC
LoZ
ZII:AoL
PH

A lot of those are ties, but it's pretty much accurate. I didn't include CDi games, because I don't really consider those to be official.

I still haven't gotten around to beating OoT Master Quest.

That stupid room before Dark Link, that stupid waterfall, argh one day I shall conquer you *shakes fist*

Anyway, here's more or less the list I can come up with without imploding out of indecisiveness:

-MM
-WW
-TP
-OoT
-MC (Granted I didn't finish it, and it was in French so I was kind of lost as to what was going on, but it was still really fun)

LttP I STILL haven't gotten around to beating. Something about the handhelds (I have the handheld version not the real deal) make it really hard to actually get up and play the dern things.

PH I beat, but I'm sure that once I beat LttP and get around to playing the other Zeldas, it will be on the bottom of the list.

However, I liked every Zelda game. Every one in the series that I've actually played I've enjoyed quite a bit. Even PH was fun (that one sidequest where you have to map out the island and solve the puzzle on it was actually pretty fun. I even plotted the freaking TREES on that map), though the tentacleraep monster as a final boss made me want to facepalm.

I thought it was pretty awesome how MM came up with a non-Ganondorf villain that actually kicked major ass. I mean, Ganondorf is cool and all but after awhile you start to expect the whole "yes, he was sealed away by the previous hero for 1,000 years and then the spell broke and he became free and now we're gonna do it all over again, hooray" deal.

Also, MM music was awesome.

My personal favorite is Link's Awakening.

The whole game is so whimsical. It's the first game to have support characters I actually cared about. To top it all off, it's incredibly well designed. The way it's so compact, but it uses every inch of space for max effect. It never feels cramped or unnaturally designed either, despite this.

Amazing game. I'd love a 3-d remake, but I doubt they'd be able to do it justice.

Hmm, let me think.

WW
MM
TP
LoZ
OoT
LttP
LA
AoL

Sound about right? Those are all the ones I've played, anyways. And just because some games are lower, doesn't mean they aren't good, just that they weren't the best. (Except AoL... that game was just meh.)

The original LoZ was actually unique, because of the way the gameplay was. Rather than puzzles and deep battles, it was more of an adventure. I also found the tile-based movement to be a very efficient way to travel.

The only reason it scored so low on my list is because it got REALLY repetitive after a few minutes.

I've heard very mixed feelings about AoL. Some people have pretty much worshipped it (think me and ToS), whereas others feel it's one of the weakest games.

Can I has opinions-- what were some reasons that AoL was so good (for those who loved it), and why was it so meh (for those who didn't)?

I plan to play it regardless, but I'm curious why this is such a loveitorhateit game, seemingly.

^I played a few minutes of it on my friend's Zelda collection disk. I sucked horribly. x{DD

It very different from any other game in the series. That's one of the reasons people hate it. It's also very difficult. Plus if you die you lose all the EXP you've collected towards leveling up to the next level, and if you get a game over you go all the way back to the starting point of the game and have to walk all the way back to where you ran out of lives, so it's pretty unforgiving.

It's not one of my favorites, but I still like it. It's adventurous and it's fun to explore the game just like any other Zelda title. The combat is interesting, and challenging. It's rewarding when you learn new moves and spells. Felt great when I finally beat it.
A word of advice: if you see a Dreadhawk in the final temple, don't fight, RUN!

I love AoL because it's different than any game I've ever played, let alone any Zelda game. I love the difficulty, I love the dungeons, I love the combat, the bosses, the sword techniques...it's an amazing game, IMO.

Here's my list:

TP
MM
OoT
LA
LttP
AoL
WW
LoZ
FSA
MC
OoS
OoA
PH

But, I do love all of them quite a bit. I need to play PH again, though...

Ahh, okay.

I was just curious, because it seemed like one of the most-hated OR most-loved games.

Sounds intriguing, though. :{D

I haven't played a Zelda game yet that tops LttP in my book, though TP comes close.

My list:
LttP
TP
LA (though I never got around to finishing it)
OoT
LoZ and AoL are kind of in the same place.

The others I haven't played.

I'm sure I've listed my favorites in a different order before, but here they are, with my favorite element from the games. I'll list three:

1.) WW. It had the best character development in any Zelda game I've played.

2.) PH. Not as great as WW, but it was good enough to remind me why I liked WW in the first place. Good direct sequel, and stylus was fun to use.

3.) MC. This game provided me the best story, since it didn't just throw Ganondorf at me as the villain, nor drag me in with the same old races such as the Zora.

Great games there.

Anyone else love the Makar/Medli dungeons in WW as much as I did?

Mind-controlling them was hella fun. My two favorite dungeons ever, right there.

(Well, the temple of time in TP comes close... but those two still take the cake.)

My top 5. Most of them are the classic titles.

1. A Link to the Past
2. Link's Awakening
3. Legend of Zelda
4. Adventures of Link
5. Twilight Princess

Oh and to answer the question from earlier. AoL was and is a great game to me because it breaks away from the traditions of the rest of the series. The story is very dark and moody and the evil in Hyrule is so oppresive that it has disquised itself as villiagers in some occasions and even caused all the inhabatants of one town to flee.

My first time through Medli's dungeon I was controlling her in the final chamber before the boss. You know the big one, with the walkways aroud the sides and the big pit in the center with that evil purple mist at the bottom.

Anyway, I was flying her to the door and I misjudged the distance. I just barely missed the ledge and she fell into the pit. The instant she hit that fog it broke the control spell. I suddenly and jarringly found myself back up top controlling Link, with no idea what was happening to Medli down below. In a moment of panic and blind heroics I lept into the pit without a second thought.

Needless to say I took a decent chunk of damage from the fall and fighting off the hoard monsters at the bottem, but stupid as it was, I was just glad Medli was ok.

I remember in Makar's dungeon the rooms with the switchblades, my friends and I, being evil, would intentionally leave him where a switchblade hits and then take a pictograph when it hit him. Because we're evil.
