That's only the first official statement Nintendo has issued on this. Various people on the dev teams had said they hadn't intended for there to be a timeline several times before. We just ignored that because making up timelines is something to do.

Technically, it'd be worse if Ninty said one timeline or another was true, because that'd tick off fans of all the other ones.

Honestly, I just wanted an awnser. Which timeline was right? And for Nintendo to say that all the games are seprate from each other is more than dissappointing. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has the same opinion.

Who gave the answer regarding the timeline? A higher-up or some guy?

truth is, they had no timeline in mind, they just make the games

The awnser was given by the series producer. speaking on behalf of Miyamoto.

... Really? Personally, I like this a lot. Besides, continuity (especially in video games) sucks; to me, it's a binding force than a driving force.

This is the best bit in that entire article.

That Ocarina guy sounds like a total dick. Thanks for backing up my standpoint, btw, Nintendo.

I always kind of assumed that there was no real timeline for the Zelda games...But they're so damn fun to make!

So while this doesn't really bother me, I'm just gonna keep going with my timelines. /shrug

When there were only five Zelda games and three Links, it was easy. But then they made the Oracle games and the Four Swords games and The Minish Cap...

In summary, I stopped giving a **** a long time ago.

I always just thought the "Links" in every game were just reincarnations of the same hero, each in some different and unimportant point in time. (Same goes with all the Zeldas and Ganondorfs and whatnots.)

I always thought that's how it was supposed to be seen.

I don't mind timeline discussions but really I couldn't care less which timeline is 'right' or whatever.

I'm Link, I have the triforce of Courage and I'm gonna kick some evil ass and save me some princesses.

Although I agree with Val in that I always figured the Links were all reincarnations of the same awesome dude.

Ocarina of Time
Majora's Mask
Oracle of Ages/Seasons
A Link to the Past
Link's Awakening
The Legend of Zelda
The Adventure of Link

That was how it was before Nintendo started doing all kinds of weird stuff like flooding Hyrule and making Zelda the ruler of twilight.

I don't see Zelda being held hostage in the Twilight Realm as strange for the series. I mean, it's basically just another Lightworld/Darkworld scenario, same as OoT's past/future.
