If not, yeah, that'd be awesome. We do seriously need more "spooky" dungeons, though. The lack of them is disturbing. |

With traps, enemies, that sort of stuff. You get to the end, and...no boss. You get the QUEST ITEM and turn to leave...when the place starts shaking and weird noises play. Also, maybe flickering lights, that's always scary! Pots are thrown at you, new enemies arrive, and several new ways are opened. You have no 'portal', so you have to escape. Then at the end, you discover that the dungeon is either: A: Possessed by some evil spirit: you kill it, escape. B: The dungeon it's self is a sleeping monster somehow: you leave the dungeon, and it gets up and attacks you. Yeah, kinda silly sounding, but I like it. With the help of some allies Link manages to slay the beast, and it collapses. You can go back into the dungeon if you want: it's dead now. Now that I think about it, this could kinda work with Tazy's idea: you get what you need, and then the slime dungeon comes alive. ^I don't think that was a full-fledged dungeon, though. |

There was indeed the ghost ship in WW, and I was disappointed there wasn't very much to it. There was also a very large ship dungeon in Phantom Hourglass, if I'm not mistaken. You had to gather the "maidens" in it, ala Blind the Thief in LttP. |

They may have had the same or similar names, but I forget. I did forget about that dungeon, I guess. Still not enough ship dungeons for my tastes, though. |

All the cliches have already been done. Uhh... how about a temple that's just a really long corridor full of enemies, and when you get to the end there's a cinematic where it looks like you're about to fight a really cool boss, but then someone comes in and kills the boss, you don't get to fight anyone, and the level ends. |

I also like Boo's idea, with a social conflict you have to resolve within a dungeon. Also, Steampunk = awesome. Deku, that tide idea is awesome. I've always liked the idea of an underwater city, too. Not just a water temple or a submerged castle, but literally an entire city that's underwater. Maybe it would be a city that flooded over and was completely abandoned, and taken over by some race of evil fish-creatures (AKA River Zoraaaaas). Or Link could somehow get poisoned, and the dungeon would actually be Link's sub conscience fighting against the disease itself. It wouldn't even have to be inside the organs like Jabu Jabu's belly, but actually a wide variety of sceneries that Link would create in his head, or is forced to create because of the disease. This dungeon also has potential for a frighteningly awesome game over screen. |

Nintendo seems to be big on mind****s like that, though, so it would be cool for something. Actually, now that I think about it, that sequence could be triggered when you enter a specific place. There, now I'm happy. Thinking back on Zelda II, it would be pretty sweet if they would bring back the Geru's fortress so you could infiltrate it. That was one of my favorite parts of AoL, navigating the pass. (lizard men) Yeah, a maze of tunnels infested with something insect-like in nature would be pretty awesome. Kind of like the egg-mines in Morrowind only much more fleshed out. Speaking of mines, an enemy quarry would be a pretty cool thing to include in a game. Minions slaving away to build a keep for some warlord, perhaps. Last edited by the Octopus; 03-06-2010 at 01:06 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

There's tons of gears and stuff. Lots of conveyor belts. Hyrule Castle turned evil or something like that. How about a Boss being a dungeon. You get eaten by it or something, and you have to escape, similar to Ocarina of Time. Expanding upon the haunted house or castle idea, it could be similar to Resident Evil. Now before you all jump on me and say that it would be a terrible idea, think about it. It would have all these big rooms and stuff, and you'd have to find keys to doors and blocks and stuff to unlock secret passages, all while fighting off Last edited by 1-up Salesman; 03-06-2010 at 10:27 PM. |

Another good idea would be a dungeon based outdoors; every other dungeon seems to be in some sort of ruin. Another idea would be a dungeon that you have to visit multiple times sort of like LttP's Hyrule Castle but that has other secret areas. A third idea would be a dungeon that's actually part of a town but once you complete it you get like a shortcut or something (like the dungeon is used to get around a guard but when you finish you meet someone powerful and he lets you pass freely). -CSM |

Also, howzabout... somewhere, where gravity acts funny. It always pulls you towards your down, so if you do a headstand, you can walk on the ceiling. Or the walls. Something involving a clock tower would be nice.

Just some random character model walking around to fill space? It'd be interesting if they made a town where everyone seems scared and on edge and some of these random dudes attack you from time to time, a la Adventure of Link. I don't know if they'd be monsters in disguise, possessed by evil, or brainwashed, but it'd be neat if you'd have to deal with them non-lethally. |

That's mainly why I loved the Ikana part of MM so much... with Ikana Castle and Stone Tower Temple, that part of the game was pure epic. Something that scares me and makes me gawk simultaneously like these do would be very welcome in the next Zelda. Now, as for a new dungeon concept.... I think that since some of the games have had more of a focus on time, it would be neat to have a dungeon whose design is central around time. Like, there could be a giant clock figure in the central room, and when you push the hand of the clock to each hour [or maybe it would only be 12, 3, 6, and 9] certain things change throughout the temple. Like maybe a certain type of block only appears when the hand is on the 3, and certain doors only open when the hand is not on 6, et cetera. And maybe in the early parts of the temple, everything is huge, and in each room after the enemies and blocks get smaller so it appears you are getting larger, like one does as they go through time. I just think a dungeon with a central theme of time could be really cool, especially since some of the Zelda games have been focusing on that idea. |
